Starting their journey as three college kids in Boston, A R I Z O N A have come quite the distance since their days of playing the east coast’s rock club scene. Now, the band’s genre-bending ‘electronic-hybrid’ sound has opened the doors for touring new music, as well as headlining festivals across the country. We caught up with Nate, David, Zach and their touring crew just before they opened for Panic! At The Disco at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, where we chatted about their current gear lineup, how it has evolved throughout the years, and why techs are the true superheroes of any successful touring band.
Launched in June, 2018, Fender's Player Series seriously ups the game on affordable, North American-built electric guitars and basses. With newly redesigned pickups, developed specifically for the Player Series, each instrument features a contemporary neck profile and fingerboard radius for easy bending and comfortable playing, whether you choose the maple or pau ferro versions.  With resonant alder bodies and a variety of finishes and pickup configurations in both right- and left-handed models, Player Series guitars and basses carry all the classic vibe and sound you expect from Fender. You'll also find some modern twists and features, with models ranging from the Stratocaster, Telecaster, Jazzmaster, and Jaguar electric guitar to a Precision, Jazz or Jaguar bass guitar.
Known for her witty and personal lyrics about life in the modern world, Australian singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett revamps her perspective with new album ‘Tell Me How You Really Feel’. We caught up with Courtney at her sold-out show at Pico Union Project in LA to chat about recording the album, playing new songs for the first time live, and why friends often make the best bandmates.
San Diego’s WAVVES brought their signature surf-rock punk energy (and a seriously rad Epiphone Flying V Bass) to their packed showcase at Clive Bar in Austin. We caught up with the band backstage at SXSW to tour their road gear, and talk about how Nathan made one fan’s day by raffling his Fender Mustang on social media.
With origins in Bloomington, Indiana, Durand Jones & The Indications unite the forces of both modern + vintage gear to present their own unique blend of doo-wop pop. We caught up with the band after their show at The Blackheart in Austin, Texas to talk about their touring rigs, networking on the road, and how posting their favorite 45s on Instagram has helped grow their connection with fans.
Fender is making waves with their California Series, adding a fresh line of steel-string acoustic/electric guitars inspired by the beautiful Southern California beaches close to the Fender factory in Corona. The three body-shapes released are the Redondo, an original contoured dreadnought; the Newporter, Fender’s own mid-size concert design; and the Malibu, Fender’s original small-body design with a 24" scale length.
The new Fender effects pedals will add brilliant color to both your tone and your pedalboard. Concepted and designed in California, these pedals boast anodized aluminum chassis and offer unique twists on classic effects. Fender used the recognizable LED amp jewel for the “on-light” and used LED backlit knobs, making these pedals stage-ready for the gigging musician. Where these pedals really excel is in huge tone and versatility of control. Check out the videos below to hear these exciting new pedals from Fender.
With names like the Strat-Tele Hybrid and the Jaguar Strat, it’s easy to see that Fender took some of the best elements of classic Fender guitar and bass models and brought them together to create gear we could've previously only imagined possible.
