Spotlight on the Taylor Sunset Blvd Collection

Spotlight on the Taylor Sunset Blvd Collection
Drew Beaupré

7425 Sunset Blvd. It’s more than the address of a music shop on an iconic stretch of pavement slicing through Hollywood—it’s the musical hub of a city famous for turning dreams into reality. For 60 years, Guitar Center’s flagship Sunset Boulevard store has been an institution in the Los Angeles music scene, welcoming everyone from wide-eyed beginners and bedroom producers to legendary rock stars like Slash, Eddie Van Halen, Tom Petty and Heart’s Wilson sisters. It's here—amid the walls lined with guitars, vintage amps and sparkling drum kits—that countless musicians first found their sound. It's only fitting that legendary Southern California guitar maker Taylor Guitars is releasing an exclusive series for Guitar Center, the Sunset Blvd Collection, paying tribute to that storied legacy.

At the Guitar Center in Hollywood, Taylor CEO and Master Builder Andy Powers recalled how the magic in and surrounding that Sunset Boulevard music store has been such an inspiration:

“Here in Southern California, especially on Sunset Boulevard here, you have studios, you have historic venues, you have places like Laurel Canyon, where a bunch of the songwriters were hanging out. It's this vibrant musical community where you have different influences all coming together in one place. And when you put all those factors right on top of each other, there's a creative outcome for that.

“Last fall, in celebration of our 50th anniversary, we held a really wonderful event here. It was a great experience with some artists and a lot of the local musicians, local recreational players, all the way to pros. And the music world, especially in a place like this, is so fascinating because it's completely integrated.”

Powers went on to explain how the Sunset Blvd Collection came to be:

“When we went to put together this collection of guitars, one of the things that was first and foremost is I want them to provide great value to musicians. I want it to be a guitar that's approachable to a musician, whether a beginning player, a pro-level player, looking for a fresh flavor. But I want it to be filled with the kind of quality and craftsmanship that Taylor Guitars are known for.”

The Taylor Sunset Blvd Collection isn’t just a run of beautiful guitars—it’s a celebration of musical discovery and creativity inspired by this legendary Guitar Center location. Each guitar tells its own Hollywood story, carrying an aesthetic steeped in California cool, alongside Taylor’s time-tested quality. Just like the Sunset Boulevard Guitar Center itself, these instruments are meant to inspire and ignite dreams for players everywhere, whether they’re jamming onstage, recording at home or chasing their big break beneath the neon lights.
