This guitar is a high-output shred monster. The neck is thin and fast, the frets are well dressed and level, and the Floyd 1500 stays in tune. I love the sound of the swamp ash body and maple neck, lots of "core" but not mushy or muddy. Access to the upper frets is not impeded by the neck-body junction at all, and you can cruise right up to the 24th fret and only just start coming into contact with the sculpted junction. Schecter really has the set-neck implementation perfected, in my opinion. The pickups sound really good also. I have a history of upgrading stock pickups in guitars, but I really don't think I could do much better with another brand of pickup than the stock Schecter "Decimators". You could find a different voicing if that's what you want, but I have no complaints with these at all. This guitar was actually setup almost perfectly from the factory - the neck relief is good, the string height is right where I would put it, and the intonation was spot-on. About the only thing I could possible complain about is that the output jack retaining nut needed to be tightened and one of the control cavity screws is stripped from the factory, but those are minor things. Overall I think this is an outstanding guitar and a great value for the money. I've really developed a liking for Schecter's neck profiles, and the "thin C" on this guitar really is very thin and feels very confortable. This won't be my last Schecter.
I recommend this guitar

I had tried three other guitars before this one, but the first guitar did not have 24 frets and I do get to the 24th and I cannot substitute 24th notes to the lower frets and get the same effects. The second guitar I tried was good with good access to all 24 frets, but it required a battery in the back for the 12 db boost. I don't want batteries to stop the guitar if it goes out! The third guitar was good but it only had 22 frets and not good enough access to all frets due to the hump on the bottom of the neck. Finally this model provided very good access to all 24 frets via the ultra carved deep inset neck with beautiful swamp ash body and 5 ply maple walnut neck!! No batteries are required to make the coil tap work and the Floyd Rose bridge with locking tuners keep this beauty in tune. Very nice schecter!! You have a winner this this model.
