Schecter C-1 Platinum Overview

Description
In recent history, few guitars have made waves in the hard rock and metal scene as the C-1 Platinum from Schecter Guitar Research has. A Guitar Center exclusive, this C-1 Platinum Blackout model flaunts an all-black satin finish with matching polished hardware, a welcome addition for players seeking an especially sharp aesthetic edge to complement their playing style. From its sleek ergonomic design ideal for lightning-fast soloing and comfortably heavy riffing to its thoughtfully curated electronics featuring EMG 81 and 85 pickups, this C1-Platinum is primed to make your darkest dreams a reality.

Form and Function
Catering to players of heavier genres—but versatile enough to suit any playing style—the Schecter C-1 Platinum Blackout features a bevy of shred-friendly appointments. Its three-piece mahogany neck delivers optimum sustain and comfort, along with a ebony fretboard and 24 extra-jumbo frets. An ultra-access cutaway offers effortless reach to the highest notes, while the body’s contoured design lends an exquisitely natural feel to your playing experience.

Rock-Solid Reliability
The Schecter C-1 Platinum pulls out all the stops in properly setting the stage for that sought-after tone. Performance Series tuners from TonePro adorn the headstock, ensuring high-precision, 20:1 gear-ratio tuning for the ultimate accuracy. Consistent with the blacked-out theme on this C-1 axe, they sport black a Graph Tech TUSQ XL nut and come set up from the factory with DR Black Beauty strings. DR designed Black Beauties for an extra-long life with their deceptively smooth-playing hard coating on all six strings. This is accomplished by coating the wrap wire before winding it around the core, giving them their openness and natural tonality and hand feel.

Legendary EMG Pickups
With all the trappings for unimpeded shredding on deck, Schecter added the perfect electronic accompaniments to set your tone ablaze. They did this with an infamous combo of EMG 81 and 85 pickups. Endlessly versatile, the EMG 81 is renowned for having revolutionized the world of pickups with its ceramic magnetic construction, close-aperture coils and low-impedance output—delivering the sonic clarity needed for the most demanding sessions and performances. Just as adaptable, the EMG 85 pickup boasts Alnico 5 magnets, yielding that cravably warm, round tonality that beautifully juxtaposes its 81 counterpart—making the EMG 81/85 the celebrated dynamic duo it’s now famous for.

Fade to Black
As you can see, there’s a dark horde of reasons why the Schecter C-1 Platinum has become a staple in heavy metal guitarists’ arsenals. And with its exclusive all-black façade, you’ve got another irresistible temptation beckoning your hands to come and play it. Visit the only place you can find it—your local Guitar Center—and step into total darkness.

Huge value
Bought this guitar 6 month ago. After some time with it I must say it is amazing. I love this guitar. When buying, stock was limited so they shipped from a store location. It was packed beautifully and arrived without a scratch on it. A few things I could mention: - Guitar comes with 'black beauty' strings. The black coating flakes off. I'd recommend replacing those pretty quickly. No big deal. They do it for the looks I think. - EMG active pickups require a 9v battery. So if you throw the guitar aside for a bit and it stops working, check the battery. - the pickups take pedals well. Your eq adjustment will be a bit different when compared to passive pickups, but no issues with getting different tones. - excellent learning guitar (for setups too). I've had a number of guitars with floating bridges. They can be a bit intimidating to tweak if you don't know what you're doing. This tune o matic bridge is super easy to adjust and set up your guitar with. - Drop tunes great. I found 11s with heavy bottoms to be a good, tight fit for drop C. Switching back to standard is super easy with a new set of strings and quick adjustment. - Great budget guitar. Really comes with everything you could want at a very low price point. Prices have gone up but if you wait for a sale, they might hit $5 or so.

Heavily damaged unit
My problem is not with the guitar itself, it's with Guitar Center. The guitar itself is awesome for the money. I bought a brand new guitar, but received a SEVERELY damaged one. The guitar I received had countless scratches, some were all the way through the paint, there were even scratches underneath the strings, and heavy scratches on the pickups. The bottom corner was totally broken all the way through the wood. It just came bubble wrapped in a box, there was no original Schecter packaging at all. The strings are supposed to be solid black, but have have lots of paint missing on common wear areas. Obviously they sent me a known damaged unit, and will most likely try to commit insurance fraud through the shipping company to try to cover their mistake. There is absolutely no way this type of damage happened during shipping, the box and bubble wrap are in perfect condition with absolutely zero signs of damage. I called customer service immediately after opening the package, and the guy on the phone was super nice and apologetic. But he said I'd have to drive 3 hours one way to my nearest store and deal with them in person, but he promised that they would make it right. Everything about this transaction is totally acceptable in my book. After I get this mess straightened out, I will never deal with this company again. 1 star is the least you can give, and they don't even deserve that. I'd give ZERO stars if I could. I'm not one to complain, but I am super dissatisfied with everything about this purchase.

This is an excellent guitar to play

Purchased this guitar about a month ago, having only ever owned and played "cheaper" guitars by comparison the past 25 years. This plays incredibly, great sound, great fretboard and neck, the active EMG pickups are screamingly crisp. I got a crazy deal on it too by matching a competitor price AND getting military discount off that too.

I am pretty impressed. I liked this guitar but waited for a sale to go ahead and get it. I really liked the blacked out look and liked the EMG pickups. I am a fan of US made guitars, and not that I was surprised, but just really impressed with how nice this guitar is built. This is my first Schecter and my first overseas made guitar in quite a while. Fit and finish are excellent. I was surprised about the setup. It was crazy good and it plays great. The only downside, the stock black strings. Great concept, and they look awesome brand new. But the black coating starts to come off right away. The two things I did was change the strings and condition the fretboard with Fret Doctor. That's it and I couldn't be happier with it. I have a JCM 2000 that is mostly "meh". But this is the first time I've ever played EMG's through it and it made it a different amp. I definitely recommend this guitar and if the other C1 Schecters are like this I can see myself getting another in the future. As for the reviews stating a used/floor demo guitar was sent….call to order and let them know it needs to be new from the warehouse shipped out of Lenexa, KS.

Got this when it was on sale and it was totally worth it. I love the look and sound of this guitar but had some minor issues with it. I don't have the fretboard memorized so the dark fret inlays are hard to see. It's also a bit too heavy and the neck is a little too thick for me. I've already ordered fret inlays stickers but I can't do anything about the neck and weight. It'll just take me some time to get used to it since I'm used to playing with a lighter guitar. Still a great purchase and highly recommended.
Not impressed, and I bought two!

Love the look, but the neck is a little thicker than my other Schecters, not as fast playing in my opinion. The coating will flake off the strings as others have mentioned, but what bugged me was the lack of bass compared to other guitars with EMG's. Usually EMG's sound the same in all guitars but I've had a few where EMG's just don't have that full sound, especially on the low E. I even bought another one of these guitars and that one still sounded a little weak (even with new batteries) and it was somehow a pound lighter than the first guitar! I would expect a mahogany body to be great for EMG's but they just didn't do it so I'll be swapping them for something else on this one.
Not even a year old and already have issues...

I bough this product in December of 2023 and barely touched it for the first 6 months. I recently picked it up and started using it on a daily basis about 4 weeks ago and it's already not working. I believe theres an issue either with the input jack or the pickups. Have to contact Schecter now to deal with this since it's under one year limited warranty. Really frustrating that wen I finally start to use it barely lasted a month. Not they type of quality I would expect and I'm just playing at home. Not like I'm out on the road giving it a real wear and tear. Truly disappointed.

I can't find this one from your website. Is this brand new or used one? And is this for professional or intermediate? Thank you
1) This is a floor/display model. 2) There is no such thing. I have over a dozen instruments. My top pick is a hand build, made in Germany. My second is a Squier.submitteda year ago
