collapse expand iconDescription

The RØDE M5 Matched Pair cardioid condenser microphones, designed and manufactured in Australia by RØDE Microphones, is a leading innovator in microphone technology. The M5 Matched Pair delivers a level of quality and performance typically only found in high-end studio condensers. Now available at an affordable price, these precision-matched "pencil" mics open up a world of possibilities for stereo recording techniques, providing stunning sonic detail on a wide range of sources from acoustic guitars and drum overheads to string sections and choirs.

Unparalleled Clarity and Realism

The M5's 1/2" condenser capsules capture transients with lifelike accuracy and realism. With a frequency range of 20Hz to 20kHz and high SPL handling, these mics pick up the subtlest nuances of any performance. The tightly controlled cardioid polar pattern rejects unwanted ambient noise while maintaining a natural, well-balanced tone.

Perfectly Paired for Stereo

Hand selected from many individual microphones for nearly identical sensitivity and frequency response, the M5 Matched Pair provides the key to stunning stereo recordings. Used for spaced pair, XY, or ORTF techniques, these mics create a wide, enveloping soundscape with precise localization of individual sources within the soundfield.

Roadworthy and Versatile

Despite their impressive studio capabilities, the M5 mics are also perfectly suited to live sound applications like miking acoustic instruments, choirs, and drum overheads. Each mic comes with a WS5 windshield and RM5 stand mount for quiet, flexible positioning. Their compact, lightweight design makes the M5 mics easy to transport and position in any recording environment.

Legendary Quality and Value

Like all RØDE products, the M5 Matched Pair is built to the highest standards and backed by RØDE's industry-leading 10-year warranty. Combining premium components, thoughtful engineering, and meticulous quality control, RØDE has achieved a level of performance and affordability unmatched in the pro audio industry. Add a touch of class to your studio or live rig with the RØDE M5 Matched Pair.

I have been putting the M5 through the ringer for the last two weeks. The museum my Taylor 814 and Takamine 12-string for recording. The m5s sound really good in any of the setups: stereo spaced, XY and ORTF. Running the signal into a focusrite scarlet interface, and then into Ableton Live. Also using plug-in alliance processing plugins. Was happy with what I was getting, but not able to nail a really good meaty sound like what comes out of my Taylor 814 even though I was utilizing some of the really powerful compressor, EQ plugins from plug-in alliance. About an hour ago I recorded some new parts with the Taylor 814, and during playback I decided to turn off all of the plugins. The M5's sounded fantastic!!! The sound that they captured was fantastic. Sounded extremely natural. Afterwards I went in with a select few plugins dialed in at low levels: Shadowhills class A mastering compressor, Millennia NSEQ and the Noveltech Character Enhancer... And I was getting studio quality tone for my acoustic recording! The M5 are absolutely amazing! And for that price point they are an absolute steal!!!!

Has high hopes for these after using many quality Rode products and reading all the great reviews. However, I found them invredibly tinny sounding and not at all warm like many users have described them to be. I was not horribly surprised by this, as you really just can't get a good pair of "matched" mics at that price point. My biggest complaint was these mics are definitely not matched. There was a rather large (3 dB) difference in volume. This is the only bad review I've ever left for anything.

I'm confused. I'm interested in buying a matched pair of Rode M5 condenser microphones and need clips in order to use them. The answer to a previous question says the clip is not included, yet I do not find the clip on your website in order to purchase them. Can you sell me the clips or are they included? Please advise.
