Hear Every Detail Like Never Before
Now in its second generation, the Apollo Twin X features the highest resolution D/A converters Universal Audio has ever offered, paired with Apollo Monitor Correction powered by Sonarworks. When you play back audio through monitors or headphones, you'll hear the most pristine representation of your recordings with no surprises when mixing or mastering.
Find Your Creative Flow
Like an analog studio console, the Apollo Twin X has a powerful digital mixing engine where you control plug-in routing and monitoring. Combine the Apollo Twin X's QUAD Core DSP with native processing from your DAW host for a hybrid system that outpaces any native-only setup.
Expand Your Studio Over Time
Build your studio by linking up to four Thunderbolt Apollo interfaces for up to 128 channels of premium I/O, all controlled from your Apollo Twin X. No matter where your music takes you, Apollo will grow with your needs. The Apollo Twin X comes with the LUNA Recording System, Universal Audio's fully integrated music production environment, and is also compatible with major DAWs like Pro Tools, Logic, Ableton Live and Cubase.
Included UAD Plug-In Bundle
Right out of the box, the Apollo Twin X provides access to compressors, EQs, tape machines, channel strips and guitar amp/pedal emulations used in professional studios worldwide. It includes the UAD Essentials Bundle with plug-ins like the LA-2A and 1176 compressors, Pultec EQs and Oxide Tape. Excellent Upgrade from Apollo Twin X Gen 1
submitted2 months ago

fromSan Fernando Valley, CA
I've been using UA Apollo since 2019, starting with the Apollo Twin Duo, then Apollo Twin X Duo, and now the Apollo Twin X Quad Gen 2. I've always been happy with the sound quality and rock-solid reliability, but frustrated with the lack of memory for loading plugins with the Duo versions. The Quad version only helps with this to a certain extent, but since UA have issued important Native versions of their plugins, this is not a major issue for me any more, especially since I don't mix with the UAD (chip-based) plugins whatsoever. I only use them during the recording phase, whether in record or monitor-only mode. I use a few of the native versions regularly for mixing. The advantages with the Gen 2 are firstly the better D/A sound quality, esp. with the improved headphone output, as I use headphones quite a bit for tracking and mixing in my home studio. I noticed this immediately. The ability to completely bypass the preamp (10dB) in line input when using my external microphone preamp is the second most important issue to me. I at least *think* I hear the difference, though with the improved D/A, it's impossible to say that anything sound-wise has changed from this modification but, psychology, it feels better, lol. I've had several systems over the years, including RME, Digidesign/Avid, and Apogee ADDA-16 converters (not the Symphony), and this one sounds at least as good to me as those older, more expensive systems. I do recommend getting a high-quality external preamp (I use the Great River MP-2NV) if possible -- but it is by no means required to get a good, pro-level sound with this unit. IMO, it just improves the "punch" somewhat.

Been using a Focusrite Scarlett for the last 5 years. Was satisfied except for recording acoustic guitars. Could never get a satisfactory recorded tone with my Taylor 814 without tons of EQ and other processing. Now getting good tones with zero EQ. Very happy!
