The Mars Series Shell Pack offers 100% birch, shallow depth shells with the new SONIClear™ bearing edge, producing a fast, clear tone with a quick rebound. The 2 up and 1 down configuration keeps the toms within reach while the extra deep bass drum produces a powerful, naturally equalized tone with 22x18 in. bass drum, 10x7 and 12x8 in. rack toms, 16x14 in. floor tom and 14x6.5 in. snare drum.

I'm a beginner, and after months of going through reviews on many different kits for my first one, I decided to go with the Mapex Mars. I was very impressed with the quality and the sound. I bought this in bonewood with black hardware and it's a beautiful kit. Only con is I would recommend changing out the stock heads. They're not terrible but could be better. This kit doesn't disappoint!
