I do not know the original SDE3000 but this delay is Excellent! I prefer digital delays over analog somehow, this has qualities of both. The filter option takes off some high end on the repeats, very subtle, haven't figured out if there are controls for the filter. There are many deep menu settings, Master/Global, Delay 1, Delay 2 settings, parallel, serial, stereo, ping pong settings and tons of MIDI control stuff. Haven't found the duck rate settings yet. The sound is great, a bit too wet at times so the effect level has to be lowered quite a bit. The mod depth and rate are also very extreme in my opinion, but keeping lower values works great. The modulation also has a curve setting, Sine or Triangular. The display text is the hardest thing in this unit without the manual, looks alien at times. The Modulation is very interesting, a bit tricky but it detunes the repeats in a very interesting way. This unit has two output jacks and two input jacks, compared to the EVH version that has five output jacks, yes five output, and two input jacks. The sound is sweet and a bit smoother rather than harsh, works well in an effects loop, does not work well with distortion cranked up going directly into this delay, which is not really good practice anyway. From the control panel you can access banks A and B with 4 user presets each, but foot pedal combination takes you to bank C and higher. There are many spots for storing presents. The software can be updated, via USB C, which I had to as it was a version behind. A Negative point is that at this time there appears to be no Boss Tone Studio app to control this delay unit suing a computer. The SDE-3000 model in other boss multi-effects and Katana gen3 and Nextone amps is a single delay similar but not quite as extreme in settings as the actual SDE-3000D. But those units also have Duck rate/level settings right there, which I have not found in the SDE-3000D (thus far) This delay unit sounds great in a stereo setup, or ping pong setting with two amps. I use it with a Katana 100 Gen3 and a Nextone Stage. Using the Power amp in and Return connections respectively. A really fun and useful delay.
