Martin

collapse expand iconDescription

The Martin 000-16 StreetMaster VTS rosewood acoustic guitar features a solid mahogany top with solid rosewood back and sides—a tonewood combination that has yielded countless classic Martin guitars. Now, they have added their popular distressed StreetMaster finish to this combination, giving players a guitar that looks and feels well-loved from day one. The StreetMaster finish lightly adds dings, dents and wear marks to create an authentically vintage vibe, ideal for folk, Americana and blues players seeking an organic, earthy tone.

Premium Tonewoods Project a Warm, Complex Tone

The StreetMaster's solid mahogany top, rosewood back and sides, and mahogany neck provide a warm, balanced tone with clear mids and tight bass. As the guitar ages, the tone will open up and become more complex. A modified low-oval neck profile and 1-3/4" nut width provide comfortable playability.

Authentic Distressed Finish Inspires Instant Vintage Appeal

The StreetMaster finish is carefully applied by Martin craftsmen, who hand-apply dents, dings, scratches and wear marks to create a naturally worn appearance. The finish gives the 000-16 StreetMaster an authentic vintage vibe and feel from the moment you pick it up. The worn satin finish also helps reduce friction while playing, allowing fingers to glide smoothly across the fretboard.

Premium Appointments and Martin Build Quality

Premium appointments include an East Indian rosewood fretboard and bridge, bone nut and saddle, and open-gear tuners. Like all Martin guitars, the 000-16 StreetMaster is built using traditional dovetail neck joint construction, with hide glue bonding the neck to the body. This time-tested construction, combined with premium tonewoods and finishes, results in an acoustic guitar made to last a lifetime.

Not sure who writes your descriptions, but a rudimentary glance at the specs will tell you that this guitar does not have a mahogany top, but rather a spruce top. 2 years and you still haven't caught this mistake? The guitar btw is great and probably one of the best values for these specs out there. I have one and absolutely love it.

I wrote a review about a month ago and gave it a four. I gotta say it's a five. It begs to be played. It will sit in my corner and beg me to pick it up because it's so beautiful. Then the tone and playing just grabs me. I put some Martin Retros on it and it made so much difference.

I've been wanting this guitar forever. Finally the situation was right. I'm a bit disappointed. I've hd this guitar for about a week. Play it everyday. It's a great concept and was made very well. I'm thinking it should have been made as an OM. Shorter scale. The tone is passable and I sure it should get better. I'll be playing this out as soon as I can get the K&K Mini in there. I bought a Gibson J45 not long ago. So I'm kinda spoiled as far as tone goes. I'm looking forward to many happy days with this interment. As they say " Anticipation is always greater than the award.

Highly recommend! I've had this guitar about a month and love it. The tone, articulation, and playability are amazing given the VTS treated Adi spruce and Indian rosewood. This has the tone wood and Martin American craftsmanship of a guitar 2x-plus of this price, just without the fancier finishes. See the 000-28 which still doesn't have Adirondack. Only Martin's highest end have Adi VTS. I personally really like the finish… it's understated and vintage looking but still has a nice new finish with some fading. The rosewood back and sides have no distress added and look gorgeous. I think the very light finish likely helps with the tone and clarity. Try one when you get a chance. Beautiful guitar at a great price

The head looks darker than the front of the body (which I like)...is the head made of rosewood or is it mahogany and it just looks darker because of the lighting in the photo?

I was curious as to the Satin finish on the Adirondack Spruce top, being a Satin does this not have the nitro finish that some of the more popular gloss finish models have?

No. Satin is no finish. It's bare wood that been oiled and sanded.
