The HR* CUSTOM DARK Alto saxophone mouthpiece joins the JodyJazz HR* CUSTOM DARK series, a premium line of hard rubber mouthpieces. The HR* CUSTOM DARK Alto offers a beautiful, warm, dark, traditional, vintage sound. Alto sax players often find many mouthpieces have a lot of unpleasant highs in the sound, especially on the higher notes. With the HR* CUSTOM DARK Alto, JodyJazz has retained the fun of playing a great Alto mouthpiece while taking all the unpleasant highs off. This has been achieved by shaping a beautiful rollover baffle, which gives it the pop and feedback that Alto players are used to, and then making a big, large chamber and bore to give it a mellow, warm, pretty sound.

Like the Tenor model, the HR* CUSTOM DARK Alto model is the darkest sounding hard rubber mouthpiece in the JodyJazz range. Their proprietary 'CHR' Chedeville Rubber imparts a rich warm sound, and the rounded sidewalls add complexity on top of the core sound. The heavy stylized ring on the shank, inspired by JodyJazz's popular POWER RING ligature, gives the HR* CUSTOM DARK Alto a boost of body and increased harmonics.
