Jackson X Series Soloist SL4X Electric Guitar Gloss Black

Description
Boasting Jackson’s trademark high-speed playability and performance with a mid-range price tag, the X Series Soloist SL4X guitar is also the only product in the current lineup to offer a triple single-coil pickup route configuration. With a third Duncan Designed HR-101 Hot Rails pickup added between the neck and bridge pickup, we’ve unlocked an even wider and more versatile range of tones.
Hot wound rails coupled with a powerful ceramic magnet power this musical beast with the aggressive crunch and sustain hard rock and metal styles demand. With single volume and tone controls and a five-way blade switch, players can explore a variety of pickup combinations, while a Floyd Rose Special double-locking tremolo (recessed for picking hand comfort) bridge system provides superior string stability, sustain and dynamic tremolo action.
Featuring a 25.5” scale length, the SL4X is crafted out of poplar and coupled with a one-piece through-body maple neck with graphite reinforcement and scarf joint, providing stability against the ravages of the road. Wrapped in white binding, its 12"-16" compound radius laurel fingerboard features 24 jumbo frets and white dot inlays.
Sleekly designed with bold style, the SL4X is available in a stark Snow White finish with a black pickguard, black hardware and traditional Jackson pointed 6-in-line headstock. Case sold separately.

Not your average Single Coil

What an awesome instrument! VERY happy! The pickups are unique sounding, I was expecting a Stratish tone, but there was none of that. This axe rocks hard, and the neck is just the right size, with rolled edges, and so easy to play on the higher registers. Low action, no buzzing, and the jumbo frets make tapping/bending a breeze all over the neck. This is a metal and rock beast. Cleans are somewhat thin and not so clean, but with a rolling off on volume and tone is doable. Sure, it's a little weird looking - looks like a Tele Strat hybrid, but plays like neither. If you're looking for something unique, with a unique sound somewhere between a humbucker and single coil, this is it. VERY good QC, everything works and cosmetically perfect. Buy it.
Pretty close to perfect

I'm in love with this guitar! Forget for a moment that it's gorgeous...what really impresses me is how versatile it is. The Duncan Designed Hot-Rails provide a wide variety of tones that let me lay back for a slow bluesy lead or shred hard with the gain cranked. They allow me to go from David Gilmour to George Lynch with a flick of the pickup selector switch (and a tap of a foot pedal). I've had mixed luck with DD pups before, but these are great. It came pretty well set-up right out of the box. The pups were set a little tall for my taste, but that was an easy fix. The intonation was on point, the locking trem is solid, and the fretboard feels goooooooood. My only only complaints, and they're minor, are that I don't love the feel of the lacquered neck (my hand tends to stick to it a bit), and the bridge pickup is a little thin-sounding for rhythm playing...but I'm biased because I usually play death metal, and I bought this guitar knowing it wouldn't be used for that.
A really rocking guitar!

I gig with this guitar and about 30 others. I love the traditional Jackson feel and tone, as well as the solid Floyd which will not go out of tune no matter how hard you try. This is the only axe I have without humbuckers, and I am seriously impressed. Besides originals, we play covers in hard rock spanning AC/DC to Zeppelin. As good as my Charvel, PRSs, Schecters, Gibsons and Carvins.. All I can say is for the price, you gotta be kidding? I've paid more for less. Only bummer is they should have let the paint dry more before putting the plates on, but I'm sure it was an anomaly. BUY IT WHILE YOU CAN.

For those that are skeptical of the newer Indonesian made Jacksons - don't be. The finish is flawless and the guitar plays great right out of the box. Sounds great too.
