This limited-edition Fender Hot Rod Deluxe IV combo amplifier takes an iconic design to new heights with a special lacquered tweed finish for a vintage vibe. Packing 40W of power through a custom-voiced 12" Celestion speaker, this 1x12" tube combo has the muscle to cut through any mix. Modified preamp circuitry provides articulate overdrive with well-defined note clarity at any volume.

Custom-Tailored Tone

The Hot Rod Deluxe IV's modified preamp circuit and 12" Celestion A-Type speaker are tailored to deliver the balanced, full-range tone Fender amps are known for. Crisp highs, warm lows and a smooth midrange provide a versatile foundation for any playing style. The reverb has also been reworked for a rich, dimensional shimmer without harsh artifacts. Dial in as much or as little reverb as you like—this amp serves it up smooth.

Purposefully Portable

Despite its formidable power, the Hot Rod Deluxe IV is designed for gigging and practice convenience. Its lightweight pine cabinet, durable strap handle and compact size make transit a breeze. This limited-edition's lacquered tweed finish and vintage pointer knobs give it a stylish look under the lights or at home. Built for a lifetime of reliable use, this amp is ready to roll whenever and wherever inspiration strikes.

Pedal-Friendly and Flexible

With simple but versatile control over EQ and reverb, the Hot Rod Deluxe IV provides a perfect platform for crafting your own signature sound. It also plays nicely with pedals, allowing you to push the amp into overdrive or expand your tonal options with modulation, delay and other effects. Whether you prefer a crisp clean tone, all-out overdrive or something in between, this amp delivers power and performance for any musical need.

This amp will not disappoint!!!

I replaced my Twin Reverb with this Hot Rod Deluxe IV and couldn't be happier. I can still get that beautiful Fender clean sound but now have the options of the extra drives. It works great with my pedals but I really don't even need half of them now. The power is still more than enough for a small auditorium. Mine had to be shipped to me from half way across the country and it was packed very well and the tubes shipped separately in tons of bubble wrap. I'm very impressed!!!

Fender Makes Some Great Amps, but Not This One

This amp was used as my home amp exclusively. I never played a live show with it and it was in a smoke-free environment. Immediately upon playing it, I noticed that the overdrive/distortion channels sounded terrible, but I didn't let that deter me because I use pedals to dial-in my tone. The clean channel is exactly what you'd expect from a Fender tube amp, sparkling and pristine. However, after about 3-months of use (I only play a few hours a week), the amp stopped working. What happens is the volume increases suddenly and then the fuse blows, which I believe is caused by faulty capacitors (not a tube problem). I'm not entirely sure, as I'm not an amp expert. I took the amp to be repaired and luckily Fender still covered the repairs despite the amp no longer being under warranty by a few days - which is pretty cool. However, it's two years later and the amp just died again. At this point, I just bought a new amp and the Hot Rod Deluxe is sitting in my closet. I've played guitar for 24 years and have owned several amps. I have never had an amp die on me, let alone twice. Bottom line, you can get a better amp for the money. For ~$150 more, you can get an American-made Fender Deluxe Reverb, which I definitely recommend.

I used to own a 1998 hot rod deluxe but traded it off for a twin reverb years ago before mustang micro was available, I bought a blackstar 5hr for the headphone jack, which now has been replaced by the mustang micro…played it the other day using its speaker and didn't quite like the tones, so I found this tweed hot rod deluxe IV and my amp collection is back and rounded off, this amp is a 40 watt one so not the quietest amp for the bedroom but with the -6hz jack in the rear left cabinet it can be reduced to a practice amp for the quiet times…a great option and apart from that, the range and tonal quality and output are outstanding and so versatile ….LIGHTWEIGHT TO BOOT A TRULEY GREAT AMP

I really enjoyed the sound of this amp. The volume control is a bit touchy but you'll get used to it. Great sound at low or high volume.

Used it at band practice but where we are has loudness issues . Brought it home use it in basement but very loud . Gonna change out the preamp tube to a 12AT7 as recommended by amp techs . Gives it more usable volume control . The George Benson mod.

Purchased this to have something I could take with me to jam outside my home (if the opportunity arose) since all my other amps are separate heaf/cabinet, but also want a clean-machine since all my other amps specalize in high-gain sound. More than enough power for my application, and thanks to the mosfet circuitry I get a nice distortion without having to crank the volume. Plus a great clean tone. Very happy with this purchase, and looks great in the guitar room.

  • Great amp, sounds clear and so loud!!

The deluxe reissue is to original specs where the limited edition is modern components but in a special, limited run color.
