Everything I Had Hoped For and So Much More!
I've been playing guitar for nearly 50 years. I am not a professional musician by any stretch, but have become a fairly proficient guitarist over the years. I've always wanted a Stratocaster because the tone is so unmistakable whenever I hear one played. I obviously can't afford $30K (or more) for a vintage model and some of the more recent Strats just aren't up to the standard I was expecting. When this model came out, I really liked what I saw and heard from people demo-ing it on YouTube. It wasn't in stores either, but based on reviews and the demos I took the plunge. I got the Plasma Red Burst model, which arrived just 3 weeks ago. I'm playing it through a Fender Cyber Twin amp, with no effect pedals yet. What a complete joy of a guitar to play! I play acoustic almost exclusively, so it definitely took me a while to get used to the lighter touch required for the Strat. I've been playing mostly blues, but will eventually branch out in hopes of playing it at church instead of my Taylor CE 614 acoustic. The way the fretboard is designed is really very interesting! The maple neck is super smooth and the jumbo frets make everything seem so much more accessible. As an acoustic player, I rarely get to the upper register, but with the Strat, I can't believe how much time I'm spending up there, lol! I'm hearing all those great high lead notes David Gilmour plays on the Wish You Were Here album and even Mark Knopfler's stuff. The 3 noiseless pickups are amazing and the way they're wired allows for many, many sweet tone combos. I use both plectrum and fingers for playing lead, but especially love playing with my fingers on this Strat. The only flaw I found was that one of the tone knobs is a little "sticky" at the 0 setting. The whammy bar is really fun and is something I don't have much experience with, so am having a blast experimenting with it. The Fender Ultra Luxe definitely surpassed my expectations in every way. It arrived very nicely set up too.

Ordered Strat Ultra Luxe. Received John 5 False in Stock
I ordered a Stratocaster Ultra Luxe. Received a John 5 Ghost instead. So drove to Guitar Center returned and took sale person over and hour to cancel and reordered. She placed it on two days expedite shipping to make up for the mistake. So as I'm driving home from GC I get a call from distribution Center informing me none of these guitars are in stock but they can send floor model and try to find a case for it or the waiting period is about 3months. So I ask if they have one with rosewood fret board neck instead of maple. He checks (30 seconds) states none in stock. I then ask are any Floyd Rose HSS in stock - he checks (30 seconds) - then replies No. Keep in mind I've already been charged on my credit card and now have to spend another hour to get charge removed and wait 3 to 5 days to see if it is processed. I ordered from GC because of the stated discount percentage off and at the time of ordering was told guitar was in stock. This event it cost me and GC employees several hours of wasted time. So did GC state not in stock to avoid promised discount or do they just indicate on website that item is in stock in the hopes customer will except a demo or different guitar. I'm hoping someone who reads this goes into shock and takes some kind of positive action. I love GC stores but when ordering online which I've done many time, at least 30% of the time I run into a major problem. Very disappointing.

The guitar has decent tone, not exactly like true single coil tone, but good enough for a no-feedback guitar. However, within a couple months, the dark wood inlay in the back of the neck started to recede and seperate from the neck. Any real guitarist is entirely dependent on feel of the neck. To constantly be feeling the sharp edge of the wood inlay's seperation and recession, is more than annoying. It entirely ruins the guitar.
fun, ergonomic, and no hissing

Only had this about a week now, lovely strat sound without the hum and easy playability are my first thoughts. The neck is very comfortable, my hand doesn't feel strained after soloing up and down the fret board like it does with a les paul. The finish is great to behold too!

I found this guitar in the platinum section of the store in Cincinnati; was originally looking for an American Ultra, they happened to have this one in stock. I do not regret spending the extra money. One thing to note that Fender really isn't advertising about this guitar is that it has an ash body. Fender famously discontinued ash about two years ago in most all of their models. This and the stainless steel frets make up most of the price difference over the ultra. These really make a huge difference in the tone of the guitar. It's just a bit fuller and more glassy. Took it to my local luthier, other than a quarter turn of the truss rod, it was perfectly set up out of the box. Everything about this guitar feels premium, it's silky smooth and requires just the lightest touch. It lets you move very quickly. It's not cheap but if you see one, highly recommend trying it out in the store.

What's the weight of this guitar?
All guitars vary depending on the density of the wood. Manufacturers usually only spec size and type of wood. Guitars are generally between 6 and 9 lbs. They can be more. The only way to know the weight of an individual instrument is to weigh it. This is about 7 lbs.submitted4 years ago

Does this instrument has a "neck dive?"
Other than ones specifically designed to address it, all electric guitars have a certain amount. The bad ones have a reputation for it. This has no significant issues and no reputation for neck dive.
