Sound your best with the EVOLVE 30M

Introducing the EVOLVE 30M compact column loudspeaker system from Electro-Voice

Cory Wong on finding his sound quickly with ELECTRO-VOICE EVOLVE 30M

Description
Electro-Voice's EVOLVE 50M redefines what's possible from an ultra-compact column PA. This innovative system features QuickSmart Link, an onboard 8-channel digital mixer and Bluetooth streaming. The EVOLVE 50M combines cutting-edge components and rugged build quality to deliver 1,000 watts of pristine sound with effects and total control.
QuickSmart Link Provides Lossless Signal and Control
New QuickSmart Link technology lets you link two EVOLVE 50M units for a seamless 16-channel system. An Ethernet cable transmits full-bandwidth audio and control signals between the units which can then be mixed via the QuickSmart app. QuickSmart Link makes the EVOLVE 50M an ideal choice for anyone needing a powerful, portable PA that can scale up for larger shows.
Onboard 8-Channel Mixer Gives You Full Control
The "M" in EVOLVE 50M stands for its built-in 8-channel digital mixer developed in collaboration with Dynacord. Four combo XLR/TRS inputs, stereo line in, RCA and Hi-Z instrument input provide connections for mics, instruments and playback devices. Four presets (Music, Live, Speech, Club), three-band system EQ (low, mid, high) and seven-band graphic EQ (in Mixer mode) give you full control over your mix.
Bluetooth Streaming and Onboard Effects
High-resolution Bluetooth streaming lets you play break music or backing tracks with excellent sound quality. 30 effects presets add ambiance and polish to your mixes. Chorus, delay, flanger and reverb are available on two separate effects channels so you can fine-tune vocals, instruments and playback to your liking.
Road-Ready Column Array and 12" Subwoofer
The EVOLVE 50M's column array uses eight 3.5" neodymium drivers to provide 120° horizontal and 40° vertical coverage for even sound dispersion. A 12" subwoofer with 1,000 watts of power delivers full, rich low end. Its collapsible design allows for compact storage and easy transport.

Took a while to get the right sound but now I like it.
I bought Evolve 30m to replace my Fishman SA220. At first I was not very happy with the sound. However after spending couple of days tweaking things around I finally got the sound I was looking for. 30M has many built in effects however most of them are useless IMO. I wish there were few effects but lot better quality. I am currently using reverb for vocals and chorus for guitar. I wish you had the ability to use only one extension pole. When I am playing at home I am sitting only few feet away from the PA and with both extension poles speakers are very high up. This is a very easy fix and I hope EV is listening and will give us shorter pole options. Having the ability to control everything from your phone is just awesome. You can walk around and get a feel of how the sound is and adjust without walking back to the system. In the image you will see 30M on the left, Bose S1 Pro in the middle and Bose L1 Compact to the right. For 2 days I played all 3 systems and 30M is the one I am keeping. Bose S1 Pro is really good as well however I need a more powerful system. Bose L1 Compact is very very popular system but I was not impressed with it at all. I am sure adding a T1 or T4 tonematch will really make the difference.

Not the best for vocals. Sounded hollow.
Thought that it sounded good for music and backing tracks but nothing great for vocals. Vocals sounded hollow and tinny. Booming from reverb even when turned nearly off. Returned unit and ordered the Bose L1 with bass unit.

Went to Guitar center to buy either a Bose tower or the EV 30. After sound testing both, the EV30 was the clear winner based only on sound quality. Yes it has other features the Bose did not have, but that was not a deal killer for me as we use a good mixer anyway.. Got it on sale.

I'm an active gigging musician doing about 200 events a year. Replaced a failed JBL MK 2 EON, So far so good the EV app is much better than JBL's. I can't vouch for durability yet. Good versatility with a separate Aux mix and ability to send mix to another speaker.
Incredible speakers!!

Is this a good unit for DJ application? Large venues or outdoors?
It's a great sounding system. It depends on how loud you need to be. This has a 10" woofer. Most large DJ systems have multiple 15's or 18's.submitted3 months ago
