How you make this a great sounding speaker. Is use it in a closed back cabinet, and use 1" polyester damping material on the whole back side of the cabinet. Use quilt batting material, and white school glue it's a lot cheaper. Use 16 ohm for stereo/mono 412 speaker cabinets. Want celestion to quit raising the price.

This speaker is characterized by its hefty bottom end, aggressive mids, crisp highs, and robust volume handling. It sounds great no matter what style of music you play - and it's affordable! Not muddy, blends well, and works well with EMG and Fluence Fishman Pick-ups.

I filled my halfstack and my practice amp and it sounds good. I play through a EVH 100 watt head and I can get Rock, Metal, Blues and clean tones easily. Its not as dark as a lot of speakers, but does have a great tight bass response.

  • I MIGHT BUT THIS PRODUCT AGAIN.

I PURCHASED TWO OF THESE SPEAKERS TO REVAMP AN EXTENSION SPEAKER CABINET. THE CABINET ORIGINALLY HAD ONE 1980'S FENDER 15" 16 OHM SPEAKER OF UNKNOWN WATTAGE AND SOUNDED QUITE MELLOW. THE SPEAKERS I PURCHASED ARE 16 OHM TO BE WIRED IN PARALLEL FOR 8 OHMS. THE CABINET IS BEING USED WITH A FENDER CHAMPION 40, WITH 8 OHM OUTPUT, AS AN AMPHEAD. THE SPEAKER WIRES ARE NOW CONNECTED TO A 1/4" JACK AND A SPEAKER CABLE IS USED TO COMPLETE THE SETUP. THE AMPS' SPEAKER WIRES CAN BE QUICKLY RECONNECTED TO THE AMPS' SPEAKER SO I CAN USE THE AMP AS A "TRAVEL AMP" (ONLY 19 LBS.) CLOSED BACK CABINET SOUNDS GREAT!

Gave this a 4 star instead of a 5 star rating because it's a "Chinese Celestion", sure, there's a cheap little sticker about the size of a penny(nothing like the one pictured) on the back of the magnet that says Celestion on it but then there's another label along the edge of the magnet(unseen from the angle pictured) that says "made in China". Having said all that, I put it in a 60 watt, open-backed combo amp & it sounds just fine. It's tight & punchy with crisp highs when playing the clean channel & warms right up when you pump a little distortion thru it too. If you can get past the "sticker shock", it's a good buy.

I put this speaker in my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. It brought a few more harmonics out of the amp. Has a little of the sparkle and punch a British amp has. Very pleasant sound at not a lot of money. Worth trying out.
