Washburn's EA55G Koa Festival acoustic-electric guitar brings together exotic looks and versatility. Featuring a koa top and catalpa back and sides, the mini-jumbo cutaway body produces a focused yet resonant tone perfect for live performance or recording. The EA55G is equipped with premium electronics from Barcus Berry, including an onboard tuner and EQ controls, to provide plugged-in tone shaping options.

Exotic Koa Top Adds Visual Intrigue and Rich Tone

The EA55G's koa top gives it a distinctive appearance and contributes to the guitar's lush tone. When paired with catalpa back and sides, the koa top helps produce rich overtones and a clear, articulate sound. The smaller mini-jumbo body provides comfortable playability for musicians of all skill levels.

Premium Barcus Berry Electronics Offer Versatile Tone Control

Barcus Berry designed the EA55G's pickup and preamp system to give players maximum control over their plugged-in sound. An onboard tuner ensures accurate tuning, while bass, middle, treble and presence controls allow for precise EQ adjustments. The preamp's feedback resistance allows for higher stage volumes without issues.

Familiar Neck and Hardware Provide Solid Playability

The EA55G's mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard provide a familiar feel for most acoustic guitarists. Twenty frets offer versatility, while chrome Grover-style tuners provide accurate and stable tuning. White binding on the neck and body adds a touch of elegance.

Gloss Finish and Abalone Rosette Complete the Look

A buffed gloss finish protects the EA55G's exotic woods while enhancing their natural beauty. An abalone rosette surrounds the soundhole, adding a decorative touch.

Impressive. Most Impressive.

Had an extra hard shell case to fill, so I drove out to the Guitar Center to look around. Been wanting to add an acoustic-electric to the collection, and played quite a few new and used models, and then this one caught my eye. I'll admit that I never really liked Washburn guitars, from the few I saw back in the 80's, but I decided I'd give it a chance. BLOWN AWAY! I was instantly impressed by the rich sound, and projection from the small body of this guitar. Action was perfect, and fretted clean all the way up to last fret, with perfect intonation. Fully bound, book matched wood, abalone inlay, and she shines like a diamond. I was so happy on my drive home I went out of my way to swing by and show it off to my drummer.

Plays terrible

Bought this guitar for me and bought a Mitchel for my son. The washburns action was awful, feet bourd was dry and not very comfortable. My sons cheaper Mitchell plays 10 times better than this guitar. So I'm returning it and buying another Mitchell.

This guitar spoke to me and said take me home, and I'm so glad I did. I played about a dozen guitars and this thing knocked me out. Best looking and sounding of all. Beautiful finish over mahogany body and neck, The neck was set up perfect and intonation is perfect. Needed fret filing and strap button. Great purchase.

Great guitar and you can't beat the price. It sounds great both unplugged and plugged in and stays in tune. I've gigged in various venues with it and it hasn't let me down. The built in tuner is nice to have as well. The set up right out of the box was excellent. I'd give 5 stars but the fret edges were very sharp and I had to file down the edges of the entire neck. Easy fix and she plays great!

I play in an acoustic duo and am looking forward to trying this out. We both play high end Takamine most of the time and while I dont expect this to sound that good I do love the feel of the slimmer body, but what you gain in comfort you give up in sound with the slim body. Oh well love the look and feel of the washburn and I can EQ it and make it sound very good im sure. My main concern is it staying in tune for a 60-75 min set...well see. I set and played many guitars for 2-3 hrs when i bought this and I can safely say it sounded the best of all the ones i played and many i played were in the 700-800 range. Maybe cheaper electronics or cheaper build idk but like i said for the money you cant go wrong.
