PRS

collapse expand iconDescription

The SE Zach Myers from Paul Reed Smith is the signature guitar of the Shinedown guitarist. Featuring a chambered mahogany body with maple top, flame maple veneer and single f-hole, the SE Zach Myers provides smooth mid-range tones with a natural, resonant internal reverb. Equipped with PRS-designed 245 "S" pickups, this signature PRS electric delivers high-end clarity, low-end power and an overall aggressive punch that still maintains a sweetness. As a guitarist who has rocked PRS instruments on stage and teched for several PRS bands, Myers has an intimate understanding of how a guitar should feel and what the build quality should be. Those details have created an eye-popping player’s guitar that can take a beating and hold up to playing styles of all types.

Beautiful Guitar, Great Sound

Such a beautiful guitar. The color stands out for sure, and the sound and quality is there to back it up. Heavy sounds for metal, and good cleans for blues. It's super versatile, well-made, and absolutely gorgeous. 5 stars for this guitar! In terms of buying through Guitar Center, I didn't have the best experience. Ordered online to my local store, and upon delivery it seemed okay. It wasn't until I got home to change the strings that I realized how badly tilted the bridge was. Additionally there was obvious pick scratches on the body, a crack in the finish on the fretboard edges, and the strings were corroded. I doubt this has anything to do with PRS quality, as I've only had stellar products from them in the past. I think this was a Guitar Center issue with them selling a demo model as brand new when they shouldn't have. I returned this guitar and replaced it with another new one of the same kind, because I trust PRS and knew if I could get a good guitar from Guitar Center it would be a keeper. They happily returned the other at my local store and replaced it with another new one from a different store. The second one came in and was basically perfect. I think it might've been a demo model as well, but was clearly in much better condition, as the bridge was straight, the strings were nearly unused, there were minimal pick scratches, and the guitar just felt and looked better in general. This one is a keeper, and totally worth a 5-star review for the product!

Expensive repairs, check the quality before buying

I was extremely excited to get my hands on this guitar because I was obsessively watching Youtube reviews and reading the many 5 star reviews shown on guitar stores for months before I decided to make the purchase. Something seemed off with the model I played in the Appleton location and I asked if they had a new in box guitar. They called around to the different stores and said there are 4 available in the country and all of them are displayed at other stores. I decided to take the risk, and I really wish I hadn't. In the first two weeks the guitar would lose it's tuning pretty easily after playing for only 10-15 minutes at a time. I had on and off issues with this for the rest of the month. The next month, on the High E, the 1st and 2nd fret had complete dead notes and wouldn't ring out at all. I decided to take this instrument to a different guitar shop and have them take a look. The repair is going to cost me $400 for them to do a complete re-fret of the guitar neck because multiple frets are high and some are loose and it needs to be adjusted. I am extremely disappointed with this purchase having only owned the guitar for a little over two months. I am a few weeks past the return window and I have spent almost half the guitars value in additional repairs. This guitar is absolutely beautiful and when it did play, it played well. I'm sure I got a fluke, and many others will not have the same issues i had. If you decide to purchase this guitar, or others make sure you take a close look at the quality before you walk out of the store with it.

I have had this guitar now for nearly two years , and I play it every day . It sounds great , looks terrific, and is comfortable to play for an entire show . The neck is not as slim as my telecaster but still very manageable. I did install Gohtoh locking tuners to improve what I felt were sloppy tuners originally. I feel this guitar is my LP option .

I purchased this guitar a couple months ago and let me just say this thing punches well above its weight class. This is a great guitar and not just for the price. I've got guitars over double the cost of this one, and I play this one more. I've seen a couple people complain about the tuning machines, and while I'm not calling them liars, my particular guitar has had no problems whatsoever, including tune-ability. Overall this thing is a solid, smooth, and fun to play guitar

  • Great guitar except for the tuning machines.

The feel, fit, and finish are great at this price. Plan on replacing the tuning machines. Some were sloppy and some were really tight on my guitar. Caused tuning instability. Sent them to PRS service, but they told me they were "within spec". Plan on buying a set of Gotoh SD90s to replace the stock tuning machines.

Two turns on the bridge to lower the action and this guitar plays as well as any out there.

This guitar is not only beautiful it plays like butter. Surprised at the quality of the pickups and don't see myself switching them out. Had Jese (Exellent GC Tech) add locking tuners and locking strap nuts and a treble bleed. Beautiful set up as always by this guy. It's going to be in my GO-TO guitar for years to come. Beautiful, versitile tones, comfortable, what' not to like??
