Orange Amplifiers

collapse expand iconDescription

Orange Amplifiers brings its legendary tone to the solid-state arena with the Crush Pro CR60C combo amp. The CR60C pumps 60W of power through a 12" Voice of the World speaker to deliver authoritative overdrive and crisp cleans. Modeled after the iconic Rockerverb, the dirty channel utilizes four gain stages for rich, creamy overdrive reminiscent of past Orange greats. The clean channel provides two gain stages for shimmering cleans that break up beautifully when pushed. With woven speaker grille, reinforced corners, and its 18mm ply cabinet, the CR60C looks as iconic as it sounds. Plug into the CR60C and experience the Orange sound without compromise.

Four Gain Stages Provide Legendary Overdrive

The CR60C's dirty channel is modeled on the coveted Rockerverb, using four gain stages to produce the saturated overdrive tone that Orange is known for. From bluesy crunch to face-melting distortion, the CR60C delivers overdrive for any style of music. The three-band EQ provides tonal flexibility, allowing you to scoop the mids for a metal sound or boost them for a classic rock tone.

Two Gain Stages Deliver Shimmering Cleans

While the CR60C is focused on overdrive, its clean channel is no slouch. Based on a two gain stage, two-band EQ design, the clean channel puts out sparkling cleans with chime and depth. As you increase the volume, the clean channel begins to saturate, transitioning smoothly into overdrive. The clean channel takes pedals remarkably well, allowing you to craft your own distortion or modulation sounds.

Digital Reverb and Transparent Effects Loop

The CR60C includes essential features for performance and recording use, including digital spring, hall, and plate reverb simulations as well as an effects loop for integrating your favorite stompboxes. The loop is transparent, maintaining your core tone whether effects are engaged or not. This flexibility makes the CR60C ideal as a pedal platform in addition to a standalone amp.

Iconic Style

Clad in Orange's signature woven speaker grille, rugged 18mm plywood, and versatility, the CR60C looks as iconic as the amps that inspired it. The vintage-styled control panel provides intuitive control over volume, gain, EQ, reverb, and effects loop. The CR60C is lightweight enough for gigging but durable enough for the studio. Experience the sound and style of Orange in an affordable, portable package.

Exactly what I was looking for

To make a long story short, I was in a catch 22 situation. I wanted to get involved with a band, but I was currently using a Blackstar HT5 that didn't quite cut it with a drummer. But I didn't need a higher wattage amp if I wasn't in a band. So I didn't want to spend a ton, but I also didn't want to buy something cheap and lousy. I was looking for something that I could crank and play with a band, but would also sound good at lower volumes around the house (I live in a townhouse). I went into Guitar Center and ABY'ed a Marshall DSL40C, a Blackstar HT40 Club, and the CR60. After going back for 2, 3 hour sessions, and driving the guys at the store nuts, I chose the Orange. All three sounded great. I felt the Blackstar was too similar to the HT5. I wanted to try something else. I liked the Marshall, but even with the half power switch, it just needed to be pushed a bit too much to get "that sound." The Orange sounded good at a range of volumes and just had a different kind of sound that I liked. It has that "British Tone" but a bit a little more raw than the Marshall or the Blackstar. With the gain around noon, it's got a nice crunchy tone. A little past that, it's pretty rockin'. Past that, it gets a bit muddy, but is good for chuggy rhythm stuff. It loses a bit of definition at the highest gains, but you can tighten it up with an overdrive pedal for more defined parts. The amp takes pedals really well; modulation, drives. I played a few times with pretty hard hitting drummers and didn't have to turn the master past noon or 1 o'clock. I've had some high watt tube amps in the past (Mesa, Sovtek), plus the lower watt HT5. The CR60 obviously lacks the harmonics of a tube amp, it's not a tube amp. That said, it sounds great. When you crank it, it really pushes some air and gets a good thump. The standard speaker is nice and beefy. I AB'ed this with an Orange OR15. It didn't sound identical, but it had the same character, especially with a 1x12 extension cab. And don't dis solid state. Think about how many people have a tube amp, but use a Boss Metal Zone or BigMuff or other distortion pedal ... solid state drive. For my needs it's perfect. Plenty loud, sounds great, smallish footprint, good value, no maintenance. You can find other reviews and demos online for all the details of the frequency range, features, etc.

This amp may be ok for certain tastes..for me it is a loser

A friend of mine purchased this amp from guitar center a few months ago..I never saw him use it..so one day,,I suggested that we trade a guitar I had for the amp..He agreed,,and so begins the story.. I had hoped that this amp would provide good sustain and decent tone,,It doesn't.. When the treble setting is brought ..the amp is earpiercing and annoying,,when the bass is brought up..the speaker breaks up ..the overall sound of this amp is quite similar to a cheap low powered amp..I suppose this could be related to the EQ offerings of the clean channel,,a MID control on the clean channel would be a real shot in the arm....This is not by anyone's imagination, a powerful amp..It would not perform well in a band situation with a drummer..In a shell,,this amp is weak and lifeless..unless you crank it up to the limit..it has no nuts whatsoever..I WILL say,,the amp is nice looking,,and because of the lack of controls..it is quite easy to use,,Personally,,I would not recommend this amp to anyone,,This is a supreme disappointment..My advice to anyone who may be thinking about buying one of these would be to really sit down with it and play it for a long time before you decide to lay down your hard - earned dinero for this loser...

I use the crush pro 60 combo only, in the studio, its better than all my vintage amps, and I dont have to worry about breaking it. It tracks better than all my tube amps.

Best amp ever made! Its not a tube amp, but it does way more than my princeton, deluxe and my mesa, I can get all the sounds out of this amp without using a pedal board, it's that amazing. I do use pedals with it and I make it a four channel amp! It gets my sound and I've been playing for over 40 years its a hidden gem that should be considered as one of the best amps ever made!!!!

Depends on the situation. A small jam space might work but a club or smaller gig may have trouble.

Yesterday I asked if my Orange Crush Pro 60 could be returned to the store for a replacement, for which I did not receive a response. I purchased it on Dec. 13, 2018 as a floor model with no box. The speaker went out and it just hums, not sure if it may have been used improperly while it was on the floor. It lasted about four months. I shouldn't have to go through the pro coverage I purchased since it's still under manufacture's warranty.

Under the manufactures' warranty, can the amp just be returned to the store for replacement when it just quit working under less than six months? It was a floor model with no box and unsure how it was used while on the floor. The speaker is gone and just hums. Purchased on Dec. 13, 2018.

Display models are considered new and the warranty still applies. I'm not sure about repair facilities, sometimes they have local options, the worst case scenario is you have to ship it to a service center. The best way to find out is to reach out to Orange and they can help you get the work done. You can look up the facilities here: https://www.orangeamps.com/support/service/usa/ or give them a call at 404-303-8196.
