Line 6

collapse expand iconDescription

The Line 6 Helix multi-effects guitar pedal is a powerhouse floorboard processor built for guitarists who demand world-class tone, versatile routing and intuitive control in one streamlined unit. Engineered with the powerful HX modeling engine, Helix captures the sonic nuance and dynamic response of vintage amps, cabs, mics and effects with stunning realism. Its dual DSP architecture enables massive processing capabilities, while the large color screen and touch-sensitive switches simplify deep editing. Whether you're building complex live rigs, re-amping in the studio or controlling external gear, Helix offers the flexibility and tone quality modern players demand. With a robust I/O layout, powerful MIDI control and real-time footswitch mapping, Helix is more than a pedalboard—it's the command center of your entire setup.

Dual DSP Power and Ultra-Realistic HX Modeling

At the heart of the Helix multi-effects pedal is Line 6's HX modeling engine, supported by dual DSP processors for unmatched depth and realism. It delivers the feel and responsiveness of real tube amps by meticulously modeling every stage of the signal path—from input jack to speaker cone. The result is a dynamic response that mirrors the organic bloom, breakup and compression of the analog gear it emulates. The HX modeling engine gives players access to 45 amp models, 30 speaker cabs, 16 microphone options and over 70 classic and modern effects, all ready to drop into four discrete stereo signal paths. It's a tone creator's dream, with enough horsepower to craft and layer complex signal chains without compromise.

Touch-Responsive Interface for Effortless Adjustments

Despite its massive processing power, Helix remains remarkably intuitive. The large, full-color screen gives you a clear view of your signal chain, and touch-sensitive footswitches let you edit blocks on the fly by simply tapping and turning the nearby knob. Customizable scribble strips and LED rings offer quick visual feedback. With four stereo signal paths, four effects loops and a comprehensive I/O layout, Helix supports advanced routing configurations—from blending amp models to processing two instruments independently. Whether you're feeding multiple amps, running a wet/dry rig or integrating your favorite stompboxes, Helix has the flexibility to handle it all.

Total Control of External Gear and MIDI Devices

Helix isn't just a multi-effects processor—it's a central hub for your entire rig. Four assignable effects loops let you patch in your analog pedals, while multiple expression pedal inputs and CV/expression outs give you real-time control over any parameter. It also offers amp control outputs for seamless channel switching on your tube amp. Full MIDI implementation means Helix can send program changes, control changes and more to your other devices, letting you trigger complex, synchronized changes with a single footswitch. Helix adapts to any setup, from a minimalist pedalboard to a full-scale MIDI-controlled rack system.

Free Helix 3.80 Firmware Update Adds New Amps, Cabs and FX

The Helix 3.80 firmware update, available free to all Helix users, introduces six of the most requested amp models and four meticulously captured speaker cabinets. New additions include models based on iconic tube combo amps and heads, along with matching 4x10 and 4x12 cab options. Bassists also benefit from a new Teardrop Bass Q wah effect modeled after a classic pedal. The update expands tonal possibilities without sacrificing performance, reinforcing Line 6's commitment to evolving Helix with meaningful tools that reflect the needs of real-world musicians. It's another reason why Helix remains a top-tier solution for modern guitarists.

Take Command of Your Tone With the Line 6 Helix

Whether you're dialing in tones in the studio or navigating complex live setups, the Line 6 Helix multi-effects guitar pedal delivers unmatched power, flexibility and tone in one sleek package. From accurate amp modeling and deep I/O control to intuitive navigation and ongoing firmware updates, Helix is a serious tool for serious players. With its road-ready build, expandable routing and seamless control over your entire rig, the Helix is designed to grow with you—no matter how far your sound takes you.

Exceeds Expectations

As a 52 year old semi-pro musician, I feel like I've owned or played through just about every piece of gear out there. I've tried a number of Line 6 multi-effects, and they always felt a little "flat" sounding to me. Although, I loved the simplicity, flexibility and value aspects they offered. Well, the Helix not only meets my expectations, but totally blows them away. The word "wow" came out of my mouth more than one time when I first plugged it in and went through the patches. The regular amp models are spot on, and all the dynamics are there that you would expect from a tube amp. For recording, this is a no-brainer. And the reverbs allow you to dial in a small, tight room sound, so you're getting something that sounds like a tube amp mic'ed in a nice room. Very cool. The effects are all great too, and they all have a level control, which I think is important because the "apparent level" often changes when using an effect (e.g. chorus' make the signal louder, phasers make is softer, etc.) I am still just getting to know the system, but I have to say I'm very happy and it's totally worth the $1,500. It's built like a tank, although the parameter adjustment knobs seem like they could easily get broken off, so you'll want a case if you're using it on the gig. I'm surprised they didn't add the little chrome "roll bars" that they include on their other models to prevent damage to the knobs. I am going to be using this exclusively for recording. What occurred to me is that the time I would normally spend micing an amp and getting a decent sound, I can now spend being creative. Congrats to the Line 6 team! You guys knocked it out of the park with this one! Tip: The Expression pedal defaults to volume. It has the ability to click over to a second expression pedal assignment, which is usually preset to a wah pedal on most patches (cool). But, the documentation is a little light on how to switch over. You need to press on the toe of the pedal to switch between the two expression pedal presets. This is intuitive, but there's no "click" feedback like you might expect, so it wasn't totally apparent how that worked. Clear enough once you discover that though.

Helix

I use the Line 6 Helix mostly for live performances, as well as studio recordings. Honestly, the Helix has me hooked in every way from it's sleek exterior design, down to the versatile ability to work with almost any interface. Above all else, the usability and ease of which you can program your effects loops and chains, is so user friendly! I'm not a big tech guy, so I can get lost pretty quickly while working with most multi effects units, but this one is very straight forward, easy to use/learn, and effectively functions as a pedal board. The quality of the samples they use is top notch as well. It is definitely taking my guitar tone to the professional level quickly, and I've only seen the peak of what this unit can do so far. It's very expensive, but if you have the money to make this happen, I highly recommend getting a Helix, it's absolutely incredible. (be sure to read service comments!)

This thing is insanely powerful and versatile! Honestly, it's a bit overwhelming, but totally worth the investment in learning. I've watched several hours of tutorials on how to use it and I've only scratched the surface. I'm mainly using this for bass, but I enjoy playing some electric guitar as well. I decided to invest in this because I need to create a lot of different tones for the covers that my band does. And, I figured it would be much cheaper to buy one pedal instead of a bunch of boutique pedals and amps. I've been able to get a couple of them dialed in pretty close already. I don't necessarily *need* the amp modeling for the bass (but it is nice to create some of the tones) but they are great to have. And, they are really nice to have when I'm playing the electric. It's way more that I will ever need but it is definitely nice to have all the options. I haven't had it more than a couple weeks and they've already put out an update that includes new amps and pedals. There is a HUGE network of presets out there made by people way better at this than I will ever be. However, there is not a lot out there for the bass. It does come with a couple really good presets though. I've already recommended it to a couple friends. It's expensive, but worth it for all that you get with it. #sweepstakes

I'm a bass player by trade and a guitar player for fun. This thing can do it all. Even after the first 3 hours, I was still giggling like a kid in a candy store. Endless fun for gigging and hobby musicians.

The Line 6 Helix isn't just an upgrade from a basic pedal(Boss GT1)—it's a quantum leap. As a parent wanting to support my son's musical journey, I wanted to provide him with something that would not only enhance his playing but also fuel his creativity. The Helix has done that and more. Coming from a basic pedal(Boss GT1), the Helix has opened up a whole new world for him. The leap in versatility and tonal possibilities has been nothing short of transformative. He's like a kid in a sonic candy store, exploring an incredible range of tones and effects that were simply out of reach with his previous gear.

Playing in several bar bands doing 100's of covers along with original music, I was looking for something that made pulling up presets and effects/patches easier. I was running out of board space. This board, once you watch a ton videos and do your homework is very versatile and easy to setup. Having the computer interface makes customization simple. So far so good!
