Ibanez

collapse expand iconDescription

The Prestige AZ24047 Series electric from Ibanez combines innovation and player-focused features with high-manufacturing techniques and old-world Japanese craftsmanship. Adaptable and versatile, the Ibanez Prestige AZ24047 is constructed with an oval roasted maple neck for stability, a roasted maple fretboard for superior attack and an alder body for enriched resonance and sustain. Seymour Duncan Hyperion pickups feature a moderate output through Alnico 5 magnets to keep the clarity of the fundamental tone when using distortion and to deliver a clear pick attack. From treble to bass, the overall tonal balance is evenly adjusted and works well with various effect pedals. Additional features include Gotoh locking machine heads and a Gotoh tremolo for thick lows and rich highs. A deluxe hardshell case is also included for portable protection and convenient storage between gigs.

This guitar is very versatile, the pickups sound great with clean tones and mild, mid and high gain tones. I was worried about the tunning stability comments but after receiving the guitars (yes, I purchased two) i changed the strings to Ernie Ball 7-String Super Slink, (9-52). I stretched the strings, and I also lubricated the nut slots and the posts, between the bridge, which I do with all my guitars. I have no issues with tunning. I wish Ibanez can continue to produce these 7 string guitars with different colors (a light blue, sunburst and purple would be great!). Otherwise highly recommended.

It's perfect. I was looking for something that has a fender tone + trem, and can also handle metal guitar playing. I thought I'd never find a guitar like that until I had this guitar!! I play mostly metal but also enjoy playing prog music like Polyphia, Ichika, and Chon. This actually can cover both!

Build quality is great, materials used and craftmanship makes perceived quality very impressive. But for some reason it doesn't hold tuning for too long, especially if I'm doing bends or using the tremolo. Nothing too aggressive (a few full note bends) can make tuning go away very significantly in the middle of the song. Very frustrating. I had a 1998 UV777, also made in Japan with similar quality (perhaps AZ24047 is even better), but it used to hold tuning! The difference, I'm thinking are the locking tuners. UV777 had a Floyd-rose locking nut set and it was flawless. AZ has locking tuners. I read great reviews about that system but I'm thinking this is not the best for 7 string guitars? And yes, I know how to use that. I've owned this guitar for 5 months now and am still trying different things to make it work better, but so far I've been very frustrated and cannot rely on it. On a side note, not as frustrating, it is great that there are so many pickup combinations but the output volume is not well balanced at all.
