collapse expand iconDescription

The Fender Acoustasonic Player Telecaster guitar is a streamlined version of the American Acoustasonic introduced in 2019. Built in Fender’s Ensenada factory in Baja California, it shares many of the specs in a more accessible package. Two pickups provide a total of six different voices, marrying acoustic and electric tones in the same instrument. Available now at Guitar Center, the Acoustasonic Player Tele is a versatile as they come, giving you vast sonic options for live performance and recording.

Fender loads the Acoustasonic Player Telecaster with two pickups—a Fishman undersaddle acoustic piezo and a Tim Shaw-designed Noiseless single coil.

Versatile Pickups With Acoustic and Electric Voices

Fender loads the Acoustasonic Player Telecaster with two pickups—a Fishman undersaddle acoustic piezo and a Tim Shaw-designed Noiseless single coil. The 3-way switch selects three different voice pairs which can be played solo or blended with the Blend knob for infinite variety. The first pair is all acoustic, giving you the option of a mahogany small-body short scale with a focused sound, or a rosewood dreadnought that strums and strings like a classic American-made flattop. The second voice pair is lo-fi clean—the unaffected sound of the undersaddle pickup—plus lo-fi crunch, which adds a touch of electric tone. The last pair give you the option of pristine Tele tones and fatter, more searing electric sounds. A 9V battery powers the pickups for a tour’s worth of play time, but as always, your mileage may vary.

Body Built Like an Acoustic

The Acoustasonic Player Telecaster is built like an acoustic guitar, with mahogany back and sides and a Grade A Sitka spruce top. Fender uses transverse bracing on the top, which is essentially ladder bracing, but with an angled center brace. A two-ring black/white/black rosette surrounds the sound hole.

Acoustasonic Player Neck Construction

The mahogany neck on this Tele has a Modern Deep C shape with a rosewood fretboard. The 12" radius is flatter than a traditional Tele, and approaches the fingerboard profile of a standard acoustic. It splits the difference quite well, making the Acoustasonic Telecaster an excellent lead instrument that’s difficult to put down. Fortunately, the neck is finished in satin urethane, so your hands won’t stick during long sets and practice sessions.

Hardware for the Long Haul

Fender standard cast, sealed staggered tuners provide a lifetime of reliability. Combined with the modern asymmetrical bridge, you can expect easy tuning with accurate intonation. The neck has a Bi-Flex truss rod for action adjustment in both concave and convex directions. The Fender Acoustasonic Player Telecaster comes with a 1225 deluxe gig bag featuring a padded handle and shock-absorbing padded backpack straps.

Very happy overall

I've really been enjoying the flexibility of this guitar. Unplugged it's obviously not as loud as a dreadnought, but certainly adequate. Action was rather high at first glance, and I ultimately ground the saddle down by the thickness of the pickup wire under it (1.3 mm), which was perfect for me. Perhaps the saddle and groove depth are common with other models that don't include the pickup. I enjoyed trying different string combinations and ended up with the high 3 strings being light D'Addario NYXL electric, along with the original bronze wound 3 low strings. Mainly, that allows me to bend the G-string easily, and the original 3 low strings helps maintain the bright acoustic touch. I've got more work to do to determine what control settings I like best for what type of playing, but I'm quite certain that I'll have plenty of range and that I'll be happy with this lower cost option compared to the more complex controls of the American version. Like others, I still found it a bit pricey, but the nice gig bag included helped offset that.

disappointing

I am using in a 3 chord praise band. run into a 100 watt head with no effects, along with bass guitar and keyboards. The peizo output is a fraction of a 20 year old fender dg with fishman classic 4. And the peizo sounds tinny. The single coil is better, about equal to the neck and middle position of my ephiphone bat wing strat So I e nded up using the asoustasonic middle position. that seemed to work best with our sound system. It may work well in your application, but I am still searching.

I love this guitar. I travel a lot for work and this guitar is perfect. It is light weight and I have the options of an electrical guitar sound and acoustic unplugged guitar sound. The guitar has a great sound quality as well. #sweepstakes

I use to noodle and create new licks and practice. The ease and structure allow me to bring and play almost anywhere. It sounds good unplugged and amazing plugged into amp! I love the ease to switch between sounds and added delay and distortion. The neck has an amazing feel with the right size and shape for hands! Go buy…

I'm using this guitar with the TC Helicon 100 watt amp and it sounds great. A lot of sound blends to mess around with and it's a lot of fun. It's also great for just jamming on the couch and learning new songs while watching videos on your phone since it's not too loud unplugged.

  • Love this guitar. Already played multiple gigs

Slight issue with loose pick-up creating buzzing sounds but appointment made with local Guitar Center to hopefully resolve this problem.
