Akai Pro MPC3 with Native Instruments Integration - Overview

MPC Live II | Music Production for Whenever Inspiration Strikes

Description
The Akai Professional MPC Live II redefines mobile beatmaking with a battery-powered, all-in-one production platform built for studio-grade performance on the go. Powered by MPC3 software and packed with state-of-the-art features—including a 7" high-resolution multi-touch display, 16 velocity-sensitive RGB pads and built-in monitor speakers—the MPC Live II gives producers everything they need to create anywhere inspiration strikes. It's the first MPC with integrated speakers, and with full support for Native Instruments' Play Series and Expansion libraries, the creative potential is massive right out of the box. Seamless connectivity, real-time sequencing, powerful new plugins and next-level workflow enhancements make the MPC Live II a standalone force in any setup. Whether you're sketching ideas in the park, playing live onstage or fine-tuning your tracks in the studio, the MPC Live II delivers total creative freedom for producers and performers.
Built-In Monitor Speakers for True Portability
The MPC Live II is the first MPC to include its own stereo speaker system, making it a complete mobile studio. The onboard monitors deliver detailed, balanced sound so you can hear your mix clearly without needing headphones or external speakers. Ideal for travel, on-location sessions or casual jamming, the dual woofer-tweeter setup delivers impressive volume and depth for its size. When it's time to dial in the final mix, you can switch to studio monitors or headphones with a simple tap. The added flexibility of built-in speakers turns the MPC Live II into a truly self-contained production environment—just power on and start creating, no gear required.
Battery-Powered Workflow for Maximum Mobility
Designed with mobile creators in mind, the MPC Live II runs on an internal lithium-ion battery for up to six hours of unplugged production. Whether you're on a plane, in the tour van or performing live, you'll never be tethered to an outlet. The 16GB internal storage provides ample space for your samples, loops and full productions, while the SD card slot, USB inputs and SATA drive bay offer virtually unlimited expansion. The MPC Live II gives you full MPC power wherever you go, allowing you to write, sample and sequence without compromise—even in the most remote locations.
Pro-Level Connectivity for Studio and Stage
The MPC Live 2 packs professional connectivity into a compact unit, making it an ideal hub for studio setups and live performances. Phono and line-level inputs allow seamless integration with turntables and mixers, while multiple stereo outputs enable routing to external monitors or PA systems. USB ports and 5-pin MIDI I/O provide compatibility with synthesizers, drum machines and controllers, while four CV/gate outputs offer direct control over modular and Eurorack devices. With Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities, the MPC Live 2 also supports wireless data transfers and Ableton Link synchronization, enabling fluid collaboration across platforms. This robust I/O configuration ensures the MPC Live 2 adapts effortlessly to any workflow.
MPC3 Software for Expansive Sonic Possibilities
The MPC Live II ships with the powerful MPC3 software update, introducing major workflow upgrades like the Enhanced Main Mode, Studio Mixer, Linear Song Arranger and XL Channel Strip. These tools bring deep sequencing, mixing and arrangement features directly to the touchscreen interface. Built-in plugins like Hype, Solina, Odyssey and Mellotron expand your sonic palette, while the MPC Live II's integration with Native Instruments unlocks five standalone Play Series instruments and five Expansion libraries, providing access to high-quality synths, drum kits and more. With NKS-style compatibility and support for high-end vocal FX from AIR, the MPC Live II delivers cutting-edge tools for serious production—no computer required.
A Fully Self-Contained Music Production Studio
From its immersive touchscreen and battery-powered portability to its built-in speakers and expandable storage, the Akai Professional MPC Live 2 is the most versatile MPC ever made. It brings together Akai's legendary pad-based workflow, powerful modern effects and deep integration with studio gear and sample libraries. Whether you're chopping samples on the fly, sequencing a live set or finishing a full track from scratch, the MPC Live II puts complete control at your fingertips. My life is complete.
Life comes at you fast, especially when you're trying to juggle work, family, friends and social distancing. As a result, there's less time to make music. The new Live 2 is solves that. It goes wherever I go and the most versatile electronic piece of musical equipment there is. The addition of the speaker is ingenious and in my honest opinion is a huge upgrade from the first edition. It gives you way more options. I can take it and make beats on my lunch break. I can chop samples and chop vegetables without getting tangled in my headphones, monitors, wires, etc before serving dinner. My 4 yr old son loves sampling random stuff with a SM58 which is dope too. This has re-awakened my passion for making music and has positively impacted me especially in these current times.

Horrible unit. Double triggers and missing hits quite often. Sent back for repair...same problems. They replaced it.....Same problem. Then they offer to repair the new one. I told them forget it. I am sick of shipping the unit to only be disappointed. Guess I will just take the loss.

I almost went with a One+ but portability and the ability to function with an internal battery was key. This is my first go with an Akai MPC product and I am very satisfied with the pads, plug ins, sampling and arranging. I went right into MPC3 and really like it.
I'd buy again
