Legendary guitarist Jennifer Batten has teamed up with vocalist Marc Scherer for a release of 11 searing melodic rock songs with their new project, BattleZone under the moniker Scherer/Batten.
The material on BattleZone was written by Scherer’s collaborator Jim Peterik (Ides of March, formerly of Survivor, Pride Of Lions). Featuring eight musical gems from Jim’s songwriting vault, the album also features three new tracks written for this project. All of the songs are delivered with an energy and verve by these seasoned players.
“It was such a pleasure to jump into such a high level and inspiring project!” shares Batten. “Marc’s vocals are out of this world, the grooves are kickin’, and working with Jim Peterik (composer of “Eye of the Tiger” for his band Survivor) is so joyous and creative. I can’t wait to take this to the stage!”
Batten has played three world tours with Michael Jackson and two with Jeff Beck. She regularly travels the globe performing her own materials and has released several solo albums.
There’s no doubt that Batten selects her gear carefully for tone and portability. Her current amp of choice is the BluGuitar Amp1 by Thomas Blug. She shares “It is essentially a 100 watt four channel tube driven vintage Marshall that is midi capable and it weighs less than 3 pounds so I can carry it in my carry-on when I fly.”
Her go to guitar is the Washburn Parallaxe PXM10, and she owns three of them. “I love the way it sounds and feels,” she confides, “and it's the first time I ever used the Stevens cut-a-way that allows for the most comfortable access up to the 24th fret you can imagine.
