New for 2019, Tama's Starclassic Walnut/Birch shell packs add a new dimension of sound to the drummer-favorite Starclassic lineup. Walnut and birch are a match made in heaven. These two tonewoods complement one another with a 6 mm shell consisting of four plies of European birch and two inner plies of American black walnut. The result is a pure, modern tone that is clear and well-defined, yet warm and round.
Likely, the most subjective microphone placement in all of recording is the room mic for a drum set (or perhaps a room mic for any instrument setup for that matter).  As with any recording, the sound concept you have in mind should lead the decision making process.  In other words, what is the intent?

As a product specialist and artist relations rep for Roland Drums and Percussion, LA-based artist Jordan West has become a familiar face demoing Roland's products in clinics and videos. Recently, Jordan was offered the opportunity to go in-depth into the product development process when she was invited to Roland HQ in Japan as one of the first artists to provide feedback on the design of the new TM-6 PRO Drum Trigger Module. We caught up with Jordan at Winter NAMM 2018 to chat about her involvement with the TM-6 PRO, Roland's unique approach to innovation and the future of electronic drumming.
