Turning an Acoustic Kit into an Electric

Can I turn my acoustic kit into an electronic kit?

Yes. You can modify your acoustic kit to be electric. Many different manufacturers make acoustic triggers that you can hook up to a drum module and sample the assigned sound. For example, you could attach an acoustic trigger to your drumhead, lead a cable from the trigger to your desired drum module input, then inside the module you would assign the sound you want the trigger to play. If you want to play silently and still have the acoustic triggering capability, that can be done as well. You can put Mesh heads on your acoustic drums and follow the same procedure to hook it up. Unfortunately, not all acoustic triggers will respond the same way they do on a mylar or standard drum head. You may experience some loss in response depending on the mesh head and trigger you are using. Mesh heads are also a great alternative to practicing silently.
