De-essing

What does de-essing mean?

De-essing is a method for removing loud sibilants (harsh "SSS" sounds) from vocal parts. This can be accomplished by a dedicated de-esser device or by using an equalizer connected to the sidechain input of a compressor. Many compressors also include a built-in de-essing feature.
