collapse expand iconDescription

The Schecter Guitar Research Omen Elite-4 bass, a powerful yet affordable 4-string electric bass ready to drop thunderous low end into any mix. Featuring a mahogany body and ultrafast maple neck, the Elite-4 delivers earthshaking tone and lightning-quick response for any playing style. Equipped with dual Schecter Diamond J-Bucker pickups, this bass unleashes fully customizable sound via master volume, master tone and blend controls, as well as a 3-way toggle switch for series, parallel or split-coil operation. The Elite-4's rosewood fingerboard and slim, fast-playing neck feel familiar yet refreshingly unique. Overall, the Omen Elite-4 bass is a formidable fusion of tone and playability available at an incredible value.

Dual J-Bucker Pickups Deliver Powerful Punch

The Elite-4's dual Schecter Diamond J-Bucker pickups are calibrated to deliver a powerful punch with balanced highs, authoritative lows and a scooped yet present midrange. Roll back the blend control to emphasize the bridge pickup for an aggressive, biting tone, or favor the neck pickup for a warmer, more rounded sound. Switch to split-coil mode to access single-coil-like clarity with improved noise rejection. However you configure them, the Elite-4's pickups unleash a wealth of tones ready to drop into the mix.

Ultrafast Maple Neck Provides Exceptional Playability

The Elite-4 bass features an ultrafast maple neck and 16" radius rosewood fingerboard for exceptional playability regardless of technique or skill level. Its slim yet comfortable profile and minimal finish provide a slick, frictionless feel, enabling rapid runs, finger rolls and position shifts with ease. The rosewood fingerboard absorbs excess overtones for a balanced, musical tone while facilitating a light, nimble touch. Combined with the Elite-4's sculpted body contours, this high-performance neck results in a bass that's a joy to play all night long.

Reliable Hardware and Appointments

In keeping with its reputation for quality, Schecter equipped the Elite-4 with durable, reliable components including Schecter tuners for rock-solid intonation and a Schecter custom bass bridge for enhanced sustain and tonal articulation. Additional features include black hardware, offset dot inlays, and a stylish Black Cherry Burst finish. All told, the Omen Elite-4 bass delivers professional performance and appointment at an unbelievable value.

I have been playing bass for 53 years. I have had many bass guitars. In my opinion, you cant beat it for the money! Light weight, versatile to any style of music, and a fast incredible neck, and solidly built. Always my go to bass and have a hard time putting it down. Just says, keep going!

I chose to downsize for practical reasons, but I may have overdone it because now I'm left with a big gap in aggressive, gnarly tones. I have a wonderful Fender USA P bass and a surprisingly good sounding Ibanez SR100 used for practice and band rehearsals. On my last GC visit I stumbled upon this bass in blue. Oh my...this one fills the sound gap, and how. I couldn't believe that a passive bass could be such a BEAST in terms of output and tonal spectrum. I heard some scuttlebutt about Schecter canning the Omen Elite bass line due to production limitations impacting inventory. Don't know if it's factual but regardless, at this price if you can $wing it, nab one. I'm a very experienced bassist—jazz-rock; punk; funk; pop; even some country-western in four bands—with 20+ years cumulative gigs, showcases, battles of bands, theater orchestra and some studio work. I'm confident that this bass could have been the one bass for all of the above (except studio work which my P bass is better suited for). Therefore if you're looking for a good instrument that can handle any style with ease, you should seriously consider this one. Besides...it's Beauty AND the Beast.

I played it for about 25 days before I decided to up the string gauge to the lowest 4 of a standard 5 string set, the tuning peg on the 2nd(D) string gave way and broke. Nut also popped out after putting just the 4th (E) string on. Hoping I got a lemon, other than that, highest quality bass in its price range I'd say

  • Tough to beat at this price point

This bass is a good quality build. Setup is decent enough to start playing immediately. I hope Schecter continues to create builds like this. Having used several brands over the years I feel you would have to almost spend double to get the same quality.

All basses vary depending on the density of the wood. Even the same model can vary up to 1.5 lbs Manufacturers usually only spec size and type of wood. Bass Guitars are generally between 8.00 and 10.00 lbs. The only way to know the weight of an individual instrument is to weigh it. This will be approximately 8.5 – 9.5 lbs.
