I bought this based on stellar reviews. But on first use it was producing static sounds like a Geiger counter. When I researched the problem on-line it seems a lot of people are having this issue. I trouble-shot and did an A/B with my old mic and the old mic was clean. The Rode was recording unusable sound. Maybe it's a design issue. Maybe manufacturing. But I'm returning it and will upgrade to the more expensive but reliable Sennheiser 416
