Another Step Forward for an Industry Standard
For over 25 years, TAMA Starclassic has been a go-to choice for professionals and working drummers. It's synonymous with quality and reliability. The series has never wavered from these priorities, even while constantly evolving in the pursuit of the perfect high-end drum kit for the widest variety of players. This 4-piece Starclassic Walnut/Birch shell pack features quick 10 and 12" toms, a large 16" floor tom and 22" kick. This allows sharp, punchy fills and booming accents in any genre. Matching snare drum sold separately.Birch and Walnut Combine for Wide Frequency Response
The TAMA Starclassic series is known for putting multiple diverse shell materials all under one roof. This kit brings a birch/walnut mixture into the family. Each shell consists of birch outer plies (4 for toms, 5 for kick) and 2 inner plies of American Black Walnut treated with lacquer. By analyzing the perfect ratio of walnut to birch, TAMA was able to engineer a superior low-to-mid frequency warmth that perfectly complements the clear attack and higher frequency projection of birch. The rich, cutting sound is familiar, but distinctively different from TAMA sounds of the past.Advanced Hardware Updates from a Trusted Name
TAMA has long been respected for its excellent hardware, and this Starclassic kit pulls out all the stops. That starts with premium die-cast hoops, which offer crisper attack, clear and resonant highs and more powerful rim shots. The toms are mounted via a system of proprietary hardware that ensures freedom of adjustment, sturdiness when locked and unhindered resonance for the shells. This begins with the swivel-wing double tom holder and the sleek Star-Cast mounting system. But the real upgrade is the Quick-Lock tom bracket. This attachment separates into two parts, one of which stays on the holder. That means players can adjust their toms exactly how they want them, then slide them off, and the exact position is saved.Diverse Finish Options for Shells and Hardware
TAMA Starclassic is meant to be a premium option for every type of player, and the finishes put that goal on full display. From elegant fades to wild neon colors, these lacquers and wraps give the player another way to show their personality. Certain finishes are outfitted with blackened hardware to create a unique overall look. This shell pack includes shells fitted with EVANS heads. Cymbals, snare and hardware sold separately.

The best drum set I've ever owned

Gigging cover band drumming here. I purchased this kit last spring, this kit is incredible. The sound, look, and feel is amazing. I do keep these shells in my garage and they stay in tune very well for being exposed to hot and cold temperatures. Overall, 10 out of 10. Would recommend.
Great professional kit

This is my first high end kit and yes, the hardware is amazing. Please change the stock heads, once I put on some Remo center dot, the toms sound great. The birch has a great punch and that walnut adds a super low end. Especially to the floor tom. The kick is also ridiculously low end which is fantastic. They don't have the same super boomy sustain like a high end DW maple would have. That is great and all but I was getting tired of seeing maple everywhere. I've used it to record and practice with. At louder mixes with heavy guitars, the toms don't need any dampening. The sustain is so quick that they sit well and don't overpower a heavy band. I will use them live soon and wonder how they will hold up with heavy music with mics or no mics. I think it is 5/5 fantastic for a boomy birch kit. If you want that DW super boom maple, which is super tempting, go for that. But you will not be disappointed with the construction, look and tuning of this kit.

Great drums for louder busier music! Highly recommend changing out the bottom heads as the stock ones suck a lot of the life out of the tone. Hardware is some of the best in the business! Finish is very alluring in person. This might ge the best drumset in this price range
If I could only have one drum kit for the rest of life this

I just bought these last week and got them home last night. This is the first truly professional kit I've ever had and I love everything about them. I do plan to do a couple of minor customizations like natural maple bass drum hoops and a kick port. I got the vintage marine pearl finish. My first purchase was a new Yamaha Tour Custom maple shell pack. I returned those to upgrade to these Tamas, and like everything about these better than the Yamahas. This is my second Tama kit. My first was the all birch Superstar Hyperdrive which Tama doesn't make anymore. Those were phenomenal for an intermediate kit. I think they were actually better than the Yamaha Tour Customs. But these Starclassics are my dream kit. I ordered a Starphonic nickel plated brass snare for this kit. That will be here Friday. This time I was able to answer the question "if I could only ever have one, which would it be?" That led me to the Starclassic Walnut/Birch shell pack and Starphonic nickel plated brass snare. My drum envy has been cured.
