Good set

Good drum set for the price. I haven't played drums in about 15 yrs so I didn't want to spend a lot of money and this set came with cymbals hats and throne which is great. Took me about 3 days of solid playing to tune them to where I felt really good about the sound for recording. I did replace the cymbals and hi hats and had to use some tone modifier rings. I'm pleased with it.

A Good Beginner Set

The SPL 5 Piece Unity Kit was a great start for me. The set includes everything a new drummer would need; cymbals, sticks, hardware, and of course the drums. I've been playing this set for about 7 months now and along those 7 months I encountered a few minor and major problems. First major problem was the cymbals. The cymbals that came with this set were absolute garbage, they are cheap brass cymbals that will crack and bend a few months into playing them. The hi-hats in particular were awful, they have cracks and bends in the them so bad I actually got cut by it. Not only are these cymbals low quality, they also may become a safety hazard for the owner. The crash/ride cymbal was ok, it is bent out of shape but hasn't cracked (yet). Next major problem is the drumsticks. The sticks are also low quality that will break very easily. Mine broke one week into playing them. Those were the two major problems I encountered, a minor problem I encountered was the fact that the drums had way too much reverb. This could easily be fixed by buying some moongel or dampeners, for the bass drum you can use a pillow if you don't want to buy a dampener. Those are really all the cons of this set now the pros of this set. The hardware included in this set is very good quality, great hardware to definitely keep. The heads are very good as well, the heads are Remo UK drum heads with the SPL logo on all of them. The snare has a white coated batter head and a clear resonance head. The tom heads have clear batter and resonance heads. The bass drum has a clear batter head and a black SPL logo resonance head. The kick pedal and pedal for the high hat are very responsive and I love it. Overall this set is very to learn drums or use for an at home practice set for pros.

I'm 55 yrs old now and haven't played a set of drums since high school so I decided to start off with a cheap set to see if I still had it lol! This is an inexspensive set but not cheap! I really enjoy playing these drums I have put Evans ring heads on the set and I have paste and zilgian cymbals but I hope this helps, good luck!

These are a great starter drum set for my 11 year old son. He has been taking lessons for one year now and it works for his needs. The cymbals aren't the greatest so might replace those at Christmas. The employee in store ordered the wrong drum set, but a quick call to the 800 number and it was fixed immediately. Nothing but great customer service from guitar center!!

Perfect set for birthday girl of 11 years. The set is everything for a beginner and excited kid. The color is amazing and the size works great to grow in. The set sounds great in a large garage. Thanks.
