Great, but the snare...

This kit is very good with some good heads and small amount of dampening. I find this kit absolutely stunning in sound, but snare just simply doesn't sound great. Even with a brand new Evans G2 Coated, Evans bottom and Puresound 30 strings it still sounded like a trash can, switching to normal gibraltar strings made it sound a little bit better. But I just used a different Mapex snare: the armory, with the right heads and slight dampening the sound is fantastic. I feel like switching to Gretsch catalina club at some point in future, but this set is still great. I ended up using just the floor, top tom, snare, bass, Zildjian A Hi-Hat, Zildjian 14" Crash and 20" Zildjian Ride. I'm loving this set!

Bought this kit to have an all inclusive package I could setup in my practice room and have honestly been surprised how nice it turned out to be. The only reason for 4 stars is the hardware included is more designed for younger, non-gigging, players. But I threw in my armory snare and it produces nice enough sound to use for small clubs/ live gigs. Overall, good value for money!
