I am 52 - have been playing since I was 5 yrs. old ( my dad was a jazz drummer). I have played drums professionally and researched drums for a long time before buying this kit. The kit is outstanding. From finish to tone to projection & other comments I made on the Pros of this kit. Mapex has produced a sensation with this set. The kit could have been priced at $ 2500 or more. Excellent value for the money. I also own a Tama Silverstar & have also played Gretsch, Ludwig, Sonor and Slingerland. The Armory kit I have ( added 8 inch tom - now 7 piece) is amazing. The finish is Transparent Walnut. Super - can't say enough. I would recommend this kit for any level
Fantastic!

This drum set is probably the best thing I have bought for the price, as it has great quality, sound, aesthetics, and also it is backed up by a great company, Mapex. I never heard of them before (sadly), before I bought these drums, but absolutely love these drum. I always thought I should go for industry standards, like many others, such as Pearl, Sonor, etc. which was a false thought as this drum kit will be the best drum kit out there you can get for the price. All of the finishes are great, especially the mantis green one (which I got myself). They are all very different, yet so much better from the standard finishes you would usually get out there, especially because some of the finishes are matte, which looks killer and pokes out of the crowd. It is a reliable drum set in total, especially the super sturdy hardware (which sadly doesn't al come with the drums, but is great for the price as well), and the support from Mapex is great!

I am very surprised by this set. I have always been a Mapex fan but this is amazing. I play drums but I didn't have a drum set yet. I always used my dads. But this is fantastic. It has a nice dirty black/grey look with black rims and hardware. It's beautiful. It also sounds amazing. It's comes with the coated drum heads and it sounds phenomenal. I have always used the clear drum heads. This was not a disappointment. The tomahawk snare also sounds really good. Your gonna want to get some moon jell to take out the overtones. If I had to rate this from one to ten I would rate it a high 9! Great job MapexDrummer.
