Epiphone

collapse expand iconDescription

The Epiphone Flying V Prophecy electric guitar takes a rare Gibson classic and reinvents it for modern players seeking to break tradition and push the boundaries of speed, sound and technique. At the heart of this ax are a pair of custom-voiced Fishman Fluence humbucking pickups that unlock three distinct tones at the turn of a knob —a warm, vintage-inspired humbucker, a hot, high-output humbucker and a shimmering, hum-free single-coil. Swapping between tones is as simple as using the push-pull Volume and Tone pots.

Iconic Retro-Futuristic Body Shape with Modern Playability

The Epiphone Flying V Prophecy boasts the iconic V-shaped body that turns heads on any stage. Its resonant mahogany body is topped by an eye-catching AAA flame maple veneer and dressed in a sharp aged gloss finish. An asymmetrical SlimTaper mahogany neck offers a slim, fast-playing profile, while the 12" radius ebony fingerboard hosts 24 jumbo frets for silky string bends and wide vibrato. A contoured heel provides effortless access to the upper frets.

Rock-Solid Components Keep You in Tune

Grover locking Rotomatic tuners supply precision tuning and lightning-fast string changes. Epiphone's LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece work in harmony to provide exceptional sustain and tonal clarity. A Graph Tech NuBone nut boosts harmonic content and tuning stability.

Modern Pickups Unlock a Spectrum of Tones

The Epiphone Flying V Prophecy is equipped with a pair of Fishman Fluence humbucking pickups that provide three distinct tones. Roll back the Volume knob for a warm, vintage PAF-style humbucker tone; push it forward for a hot, high-output humbucker tone with loads of harmonic richness and sustain; pull it up for a crisp, articulate single-coil tone. A 3-way pickup selector lets you access each pickup individually or combine them.

Great guitar but check it thoroughly!

I went to the store expecting to buy a Gibson flying V but they weren't any. I tried out this Epiphone prophecy V and fell in love with all its features. So I purchased it. I guess I didn't play long enough in the store because when I got home I noticed the fret sprout was hurting my hand and there was a small crack in the ebony fret board. I brought it back to the store and they ordered me a brand new one delivered to my house. This one was much better. Change the strings, a minor set up and you'll fall in love with these pickups. Get a case and a good leather strap to take care of the neck dive. Great guitar!

Looks and sounds great but is riddled with costly issues

I was so excited to receive this guitar just from seeing reviews of it online. It lived up to my expectations visually speaking. It is a beautiful guitar, but it had so many issues right out the box. If you decide to get this guitar, I highly recommend relocating the top strap button to the back of the heel, getting/doing a full set up, and potentially rewiring the 9v connector cables. Issues out of the box: - Fret Buzz - Strap button placement causing terrible neck-dive when playing while standing - Fret End Sprouting - Cracks on the binding at the headstock - The 9v Battery plug cables were extremely short to the point that replacing the battery could've easily resulted in tearing out the connector cables - Fretboard paint on binding I ended up paying about $100 to fix all these issues and now I love the guitar, but I definitely could not in good conscious recommend this guitar to anyone because of all the issues listed above.

This is, in my opinion, the greatest guitar I've ever played. It's surprisingly comfortable for a V shaped guitar, it sounds amazing, and it stays in tune insanely well. It's stayed in tune for about a month now. I highly recommend it. The only thing that bugs me is the price, but you can probably find a used one for cheaper.

  • I would buy again just not from GC

This is my first V guitar so I was unsure of what to expect as far as neck dive and strap location. This has huge neck dive. Also the strap button on the tail should be relocated. Aside from that it's a beautiful guitar and sounds fantastic. Looks amazing as well.

  • Good guitar
