Open Box
Open Box Dixon Little Roomer 5-Piece Shell Pack Level 1 Satin Natural

Description
What makes Little Roomer different than most compact kits is its clear articulate tom, floor tom and snare, highlighted by the controlled but expanded tuning range of its 7”x20” bass drum. The larger head surface offers a lower and more natural tuning range than the usual smaller, but deeper travel-focused kits making Little Roomer proportionally accurate and musically relevant.
The Little Roomer system doesn’t stop at cool shell packs. Dixon applied the same concept to a series of Little Roomer hardware and companion bags which make Little Roomer the perfect system to pick up and play. Leave the Cajon at home and don’t forget your stick bag, because Little Roomer can be played wherever music can be made.
Does not come with hardware or cymbals.

Was actually surprised when I got the kit all together. Was concerned that maybe the short depth kick wouldn't sound good but was wrong. The batter head was bad, thin and papery sounding. I went straight for the Emad2 head and that was it. Deeper tone with just enough sustain, loved it! So yes, no issues with a 7" deep bass drum at least for a 20" kick. Rack and floor toms sounded great with the supplied thick, clear double ply heads. Hardware fairly light but did the job. I would hope in the future Dixon would include some sort of felt or rubber liner for the bass drum claw hooks. These tend to press into the hoops a bit so it leaves faint marks, but not a deal breaker. I chose the natural finish and looks pretty good. I wish it was lacquered however as I'm sure scratches will follow but it's ok, I guess it's really a satin finish. So all in all, this is a decent kit for the money. Smaller foot print yet a good sound as any larger sized drum kit. I didn't receive however my drummer's pouch as listed in the description, but trying to get Dixon to send me one. We'll see. The included 10" snare is ok, nothing I'll probably use unless it's for special effect or something. Also a tambourine is included but haven't used it. So give it a shot, good sound, light weight for the most part and looks nice.
Don't let the small size fool you.

I had my reservations in purchasing this kit because there aren't too many reviews online. I recently moved into a very small space and I was getting desperate to get some practice time. I first tried converting my floor tom into a bass drum and midway through the process, I notice how costly it was getting me. I looked at many bop kits in the market and I was ready to pull the trigger and purchase the Yamaha Stage Custom Hip. I didn't like that the Yamaha had "Made in China" conspicuously on the badge and I didn't want to pay $700. I ended up buying the Dixon Little Roomer and I am so glad that I did. At first I had a hard time figuring out how to tune the bass drum because I wanted to maximize the low tone. I ended up installing a folded up towel with each side contacting the batter and resonant head. I didn't cut out a port hole and I tuned the resonant head slightly higher than the batter head. The result was a deep punch with decent lows. The shells are made of mahogany they give a warm and low-pitched tone with the 2-ply stock heads that they come with. On a side note, I ran across some problems when the kit arrived at my house. The bass drum hoops arrived damaged from shipping. I contacted Dixon directly and they just sent me a new set of hoops which should arrive this week. The Dixon rep was very nice and helpful. Another thing I noticed was that a few lugs were not tightened completely when I was tuning the drums. I just tightened them with my screwdriver which was no big deal. The mahogany shells sing beautifully and they produce a warm tone with great lows. I think that these drums are a great bang for the buck and I definitely recommend these drums to anyone who is looking for a kit that does not take up a lot of space.
Great sound for a small kit.

I use this kit in a small room. Works great with a small footprint. It's a better quality than I expected at such a low cost. It has a full sound considering the size too. Definitely a good buy.

What is the overall footprint dimensions of this when set up?
That would depend on where you set the hi-hay and floor tom. You should give it at least 4 feet.submitted4 years ago
