Martin Guitar Nazareth Factory Tour Part 2

collapse expand iconDescription

The Martin 000-18 Modern Deluxe acoustic guitar is a perfect blend of old and new, fusing classic craftmanship with cutting-edge technology. It has a balanced sound for strumming with clear note definition for soloing. And with an aged Sitka spruce top, the tone is rich and warm, just like a golden-era Martin. But the Modern Deluxe veers from history using materials like carbon fiber and high-tech bridge pins. Read on to discover how the 000-18 might become your next favorite flattop.

Martin 000-18 Modern Deluxe Top

A new guitar that doesn't sound like it

Martin ages the Sitka spruce top on the 000-18 acoustic using its Vintage Tone System (VTS). By heating the tonewood at a high temperature—a process known as torrefaction—the soundboard becomes molecularly similar to one made decades earlier. You'll hear it ring with more resonance. The mahogany body emphasizes the midrange. It's an impressive combination—playing the Modern Deluxe is like traveling back in time.

Martin 000-18 Modern Deluxe Neck

Modern updates

The neck profile on the Martin 000-18 is based on an extremely rare acoustic in the company's archives—a 1930 OM-45 Deluxe. That historic guitar has a slight asymmetrical neck shape that's surprisingly contemporary, making it a perfect fit for the Modern Deluxe. Martin pairs it with an ebony fingerboard shaped in a High Performance Taper, enhancing first-position fingerpicking and fast, upper-fret single-note runs. Liquidmetal bridge pins boost the output by 3dB to 5dB; a carbon fiber bridge plate adds more projection and sustain.

Martin 000-18 Modern Deluxe Back

Upscale appointments

The 000-18 Modern Deluxe is dressed up with rosewood binding, a feature previously limited to Custom Shop guitars. Gold EVO frets complement the gold, open-gear butterbean tuners. Martin tops off the headstock with a ’30s-style logo inlaid with pearl.

Other features include abalone fingerboard inlays and side dots, plus a compensated bone nut and saddle. The Martin 000-18 Modern Deluxe comes with a hardshell case.
