  • Doesn't quite push through in band practice

I'm only writing this review to set perspective. I had this wild idea that I could downsize to this 1x12 for band practice sessions and it be much more convenient when hauling around. While it does sound great, it's just not enough power to fill the room over 2 guitars and a drum track. I'm using a little Mark 800W Head so I have plenty of power, but I am maxing out the speaker's capacity (constantly distorting) as I push it to fit into the overall mix. For reference, we play a mix of rock… and our practices have two guitars running through boards into the PA and a drum track into the PA. I can say confidently that if you are looking to buy this and use with a rock band playing with a regular drum set, you won't be heard. I want so badly to love this little speaker, but it just doesn't work for what I need. To be fair, it sounds great. Just not enough to sit in the mix properly

This addition to my combo rig knocks it up to 300 watts and provides big bass sound. Love this cab.

Adds a bigger and fuller sound along with more headroom (about 200W to my 121P combo (total: 500W) without an excessve weight gain. Initial tests in my small studio found it added fuller in-depth sound even at low volumes. I can't give it 5 stars yet until I have chance to use it under actual battle conditions. But I can feel the pent up energy waiting patiently to be unleashed. I'll provide a more thorough update later if merited. The pandemic (excuse) has put most everything on hold including the venues we play here in Sin City.

I was blown away, I was in the market for a compact high powered cabinet. So the market is small. The first thing I noticed is the weight. Wow check. Sound wow again. Check. Power. Check. Durable check. I got mine on sale so the price wasn't too muck of an issue. It is a little pricey but in this cause you get what you pay for. this cab is a monster. I put a tte markbass tube head on it and I got plenty of power live. The only way to expience this cab is just to sit down and play through it. I had my heart set on the 15 but the 12 is plenty. At 29 lbs. it's a bass players dream

I just got two of these to use in the services at my church (the sound system there isn't very good, so if I don't bring my own equipment, no one--including me--can hear me). I've been using my Fender Rumble 100 combo, which has good sound, but it can't connect to another cabinet (meaning only the people in the congregation who are sitting where my amp is aimed can hear me), so I planned on upgrading to the Rumble 200 combo, but when I tried it, it was just too big to lug around, even though the weight wasn't too much (I just couldn't get my arms around it to carry it decently, and having it hang off one arm was unmanageable). So I looked for something smaller and found the Markbass New York 121. Perfect dimensions. Wonderful wattage (no, I don't need a total of 800W... yet. I'll be a professional someday and use it then). I bought the Fender Rumble 500 amp head (liked its dimensions, size, weight, and controls, and it can be used with either one OR two of these cabinets without producing too much wattage for one alone, which was important) and hooked it up to the two Markbass cabinets and it sounded great. I got these cabinets because they're easy to carry one at a time since I can get my arms around them, but since I didn't want to make a gazillion trips hauling equipment, I tried one in each hand simultaneously and it was quite manageable (I'm a 5' 4" female). The guards on the corners have grooves that line up with another cabinet of the same type so they stack very well and hold tightly. I'm also using that with my amp head to keep it from rattling off--its feet fit in the grooves and hold it in place. About its "striking good looks" I mentioned--all black + bright orange (it seemed more yellow in online pictures) = really noticeable. In a good way.
