MEINL Luis Conte 2 Piece Conga Set with Free Basket Stands

These Meinl Luis Conte' Artists Series Congas won the MIPA award in the "Best Percussion Product" category. The "Musikmesse International Press Award" is presented annually by 55 music magazines from all over the world, whose reps get together and vote for the best products in certain categories.

All of Luis' specifications have been achieved with the MEINL Artist Series Luis Conte' Signature Congas. They combine the charm and sound of the old traditional Cuban drums with modern features and innovations. The congas are equipped with traditional rims, mounted as close to the shell as possible, and combined with Meinl's True Skin buffalo heads for more controlled sound and easier tuning. Set includes an 11.75" quinto and a 12.5" conga and comes with free basket stands.

Grammy-winner Luis Conte' is an acknowledged master of percussion. His celebrated career includes touring and/or recording with some of the greatest names in contemporary music, including Madonna, Eric Clapton, James Taylor, Santana, Celine Dion, Barbara Streisand, Backstreet Boys, Ray Charles, and Cuban legends Arturo Sandoval and Chachao. He can also be heard on the scores and/or soundtracks to movies such as Mission Impossible, Rain Man, Disney's animated Tarzan, and many more.

Throughout 2004 Luis has been on Phil Collins' First Final Farewell Tour complementing the band and Phil's music with tasteful and musical percussion parts. The tour has been captured on film and a brand new DVD, Phil Collins ” Finally¦The First Final Farewell Tour has been released.
