The reborn Korg Electribe MX music production sampler retains the inimitable, intuitive style that made Electribes stand tall against other dance and electronic music gear. Electribe MX now supports SD card data storage and includes programs for today's music scene”patterns available for immediate use!

Flexible, convenient SD card data storage
The Electribe MX's SD card slot means that you can quickly save the patterns and songs you create. Now you can easily manage your data on the Korg Electribe MX SD itself, without the need for an external computer! Korg Electribe MX supports SDHC cards of up to 32GB, so you can stockpile plenty of sounds. And Electribe MX is backward compatible with earlier models, so data you created on older Korg Electribes is playabe unaltered on the newer version.

New up-to-date patterns created by today's hot talent
New preset data has been carefully selected from the latest sounds and patterns produced by Electribe loving creative artists from around the world. Ninja Tune/Big Dada artists Emika and the Anti-pop Consortium are contributors, as well as U.K. MySpace artist Shrikednb (Tom Thorpe); plus YouTube stars Denkitribe, mryat and Scribej. Simply listening to these new patterns will nourish your need to create cutting-edge music.

MMT”fusing DSP synthesis with PCM samples
The Electribe MXSD features Korg's acclaimed MMT (Multiple Modeling Technology) as its sound generation system, creating a wide range of sound variations using simple operations.

The oscillator section provides standard analog synthesizer waveforms and techniques such as sync, cross modulation, and ring modulation. Advanced modeling types include Chord, which lets you vary the pitches to produce a chord from a single note; Unison which generates a thick sound by stacking and detuning the pitch of as many as six oscillators; and Waveshape, which allows you to mix two oscillators and then modify the result to create a complex waveform. There are a total of 16 types to choose from. In addition to four multi-mode filters”each capable of radically transforming the oscillators' sound”there's a "Drive" parameter that generates the distinctive distortion of analog circuitry to create powerful analog synth sounds. Used in conjunction with other tonal elements -"BPF+" (Band Pass Filter Plus) with adjustable peaking, combinations of modulation from the LFO/EG, etc. - the Electribe MXSD delivers plenty of sound-creation potential. PCM sample data is also provided as part of sound generation system. Included are 76 PCM synth waveforms and 207 PCM drum samples ready for instant sound creation. Click on the links listed to the right to hear audio demos of the MMT synth engine.

Intuitive workflow lets you create sounds and songs simultaneously
The Electribe is all you need to produce sophisticated dance and electronic music, simply by using the front panel knobs and switches to edit the main sound parameters in realtime just as you would on an analog synthesizer. Track-making is intuitive, creating each musical part using the same workflow as when creating your song. As a final touch, vacuum tubes help add just the right level of analog warmth and punch.

Valve Force circuitry
Two 12AX7 vacuum tubes can be used to add more power to your sound. The tube gain knob controls the level of the output signal passing through the vacuum tubes, letting you create dynamic sounds with the distinctive tonal quality that only tubes deliver. The result is a fat, warm sound that cannot be achieved using digital technology. This is not simple "distortion," but rather a natural effect that enhances the tonal changes in your music. The master volume and tube gain controls are completely independent, allowing you to experience the VALVE FORCE sound at any listening level.

Three stereo effects processors
Three stereo effects processors are available simultaneously to provide radical changes to the tone. A total of 16 effect types are available, including more aggressive effects such as a Talking Modulator, and a Grain Shifter that lets you freeze an instant of the sound and adjust the loop interval to the tempo. Sounds can be routed independently to the three effects, or you can use the Chain function to link effects together, opening up further sonic possibilities.

Crisp filter section, with modulation
LFO and EG modulation sources can be used to apply time-varying change to the sound, and BPM SYNC allows the speed of the modulation effect to be synchronized with the pattern tempo for fast and smooth tonal change. The filters that modify each part's tonal character have a crisp cutoff and resonance, so that you instantly create sharp changes in the sound.

Built-in step sequencer for intuitive song production
The Electribe's 16 step keys allow for easy, intuitive song production. Realtime recording lets you record phrases as you perform, and step recording lets you use the keys to input timing, pitch and duration one note at a time. Since you can specify the last step of a pattern, it's easy to make instant changes to the feel or length of the song.

Expressive Motion Sequencing
The Motion Sequence records realtime knob tweaks and plays them back as part of the pattern. You can loop sounds with time-varying changes, creating original performance effects even in a live situation. Two types of motion sequence are provided; one for effects and one for musical parts, and each can also be edited for at the individual step level. You can record up to 24 motion sequences for use in a single pattern, allowing you to control virtually every sound parameter.

Powerful arpeggiator with ribbon controller and slider
The arpeggiator can be used for both live performance and for song production. Simply touch the Gate Time/Resolution ribbon, and the selected part will begin sounding automatically. The resulting arpeggiator phrases can even be recorded into a Pattern. When playing a synth part, you can also specify what type of musical scale the slider will generate, giving you even wider expressive possibilities. The functions of the ribbon and slider can be swapped, providing an additional level of customization.

Numerous patterns optimized for all types of dance and electronic music
The factory settings include 192 patterns ideal for all genres of today's dance and electronic music and beyond. Each pattern can save the sound settings and sequence data (maximum 128 steps) for each part, and 256 patterns can be stored in the internal memory. Pattern chaining is fast and flexible. You can combine patterns, add mute data and knob movements to create up to 64 songs. By assigning your favorite patterns to the 16 step keys, you can use switchable Pattern Sets to select patterns while you perform. Chain Play lets you choose a starting pattern and ending pattern, and loop the performance. You can also create and save your own original pattern sets.

Auto BPM detection
The Auto BPM function automatically detects the tempo from any rhythmic source connected to the audio in jacks, and applies that tempo to the pattern. Of course you can also use Tap Tempo to set the tempo, or sync up to an external MIDI Clock.

A very cool guitar, if you're into the 1980's shred thing!

I have been in the market for an 80's style shredder for a few years now. As a big fan of George Lynch, in particular the stuff he did from 1985 to 1990, I've been looking for a used ESP Skulls and Snakes model. That said, they are hard to find on the used market, and they command a premium price. Enter the Friedman Cali model. With its high-output humbuckers, Floyd Rose tremolo, and single volume knob, it's got similar specs as the Skulls and Snakes, and with a much lower point of entry. So, I jumped on it, and I am glad I did. I've spent the last few days getting to know my new Friedman Cali and I can say with confidence this is an excellent guitar for the price. That said, it does have some minor drawbacks that I will gladly look past given how amazing the guitar feels and sounds. My particular guitar was a scratch and dent, which in my case means pre-owned. I say this because when I took delivery of the guitar, I noticed a tremolo stop had been installed, poorly I might add. I confirmed with Friedman they did not install these at the factory; hence my opinion the guitar was previously sold to another customer. In any case, there are no other blemishes or visual imperfections to speak of other than, of course, the factory relic job. After my initial inspection, I put the guitar back in the case to chill out for 24 hours to acclimate to the environment. After that, I remove the old strings, cleaned and polished the frets, lubricated the hardware, applied contact cleaner to the pot and switch, put on fresh strings, and gave it a proper set-up. Some things I noticed during the whole process: the b-string tuner doesn't seem to work as smoothly as the other tuners. These appear to be Hipshot open gear locking tuners, similar to what I have on my Tyler, and I know they usually work very well. Next time I change strings, i will pull the tuner and take it apart for inspection. Another thing I noticed is the screw-in style tremolo bar on the Floyd Rose. This is simply an antiquated design and needs to go the way of the rest of the dinosaurs: extinction. I much prefer the convenience, feel, and adjustability of the drop-in replacement bar, so that is what I installed. Now the tremolo feels expressive and smooth, and the bar drops in quickly. Once I got the Cali set up, I was amazed how comfortable it is to play. Let's first talk materials and craftsmanship. The relic job on the maple neck and fingerboard, combined with the rolled fret edges and slick fret crowning, make this guitar feel like you've been playing it for decades. It's really quite special and something you have to play to understand. because of the compound radius and excellent fretwork, I am able to set the action very low without excessive buzzing. I use 9-gauge strings, and two tremolo springs are sufficient to ensure the tremolo sits parallel to the body while keeping low tension on the strings. Bending is super easy and very smooth, and the tremolo feels so expressive. The guitar just feels slinky and rather addicting to play. On the tone front, it's an absolute monster. The Friedman Classic pickups feature Alnico 5 magnets, which happen to be my favorite for hard rock tones. The bridge pickup sounds thick with gobs of sustain, while the neck pickup is round and fat. Both pickups are articulate and clear, and allow single notes in complex chords to shine through. Rolling back the volume knob will clean up your tone nicely, especially with a good tube amp. These guitars were a collaboration between Dave Friedman and Grover Jackson. Unfortunately, they are no longer working together, and Grover has moved to the Nashville, TN area. I do believe Friedman guitars will be hitting the market again soon, made by someone other than Grover. With that said, the Grover-era are pretty amazing guitars, and may become harder to find. So, if you are in the market for a 1980's super-Strat style shredder, I'd recommend checking out a Grover-era Friedman while you can.

Amazing bass with a major flaw

Being mainly a guitarist, this bass is perfectly ideal for what my needs are. A great bass with a great sound/tone for recording, and many option with the knobs to fine tune and tweak that sound to my preference. However, my biggest gripe is that the string action is ridiculously tight for this bass. I like to play with ticker gauge strings, as I typically go for lower tunings, but this bass is (ironically with it being a 5 string) is simply not made for it. The action towards the neck of the fretboard makes thicker strings unplayable. They make contact with the fretboard at around the 2nd-3rd fret, and raising the bridge to compensate isn't enough. To make matters worse, the screws that are used to raise the strings on the bridge are very easily stripped, and I'm struggling to find any sort of replacements for them.

This pedal sounds quite good. It is quite customizable. If you do buy this, if you do not have the cord used to power it, there is a battery adapter under the actual pedal part. you just put the black pins on the pedal in and take the pedal off. anyways, really good sound if you want a proper rock or metal distortion/overdrive for an affordable price.

  • Not too bad for the price

This product is the best drums i've ever played on because the shells are a nice color and when you tune the drums up, it sounds so good. When you play it in a open space it fills the room and when you play it in an enclosed space it sounds even better. All Im saying is that this is hands down one of the best drum sets.
