Ibanez

collapse expand iconDescription

Inspired by the popularity of George Benson’s GB10 signature model, the GB10SE exemplifies Ibanez expertise in creating high-quality, affordable signature instruments capable of meeting the artists exacting demands. As part of the highly regarded Artstar Series, GB10SE retains many of the same features and appointments of its posh predecessor, at a price accessible for the working musician.

The GB10SE’s comfortably sized, narrower, hollowbody features a spruce top with maple back and sides, augmented with a strong, smooth GB 3-piece maple set-in neck. It also features an ebony bridge and the same eye-catching GB10 tailpiece as its more expensive sibling. A special design half-bone/half-brass nut creates a warm natural tone while enhancing sustain.

The Ibanez Sure Grip III control knobs insure precise, no-slip control over volume and tone. Designed for smooth sound and moderate output, two GB Special mini-humbuckers are mounted to the pickguard, suspending them above the guitar’s Spruce top. This prevents feedback at higher volume while retaining a warm, creamy tone.

Spanning over three decades, George Benson and Ibanez have one of the most enduring relationships ever between a guitar maker and guitar legend. The GB10SE includes a hardshell case.

Disclaimer: I don't write gear reviews EVER, but I decided to come out of the woodwork because this guitar needs a solid review. I have owned this guitar for almost four years now. It was one of my first big gear purchases. I had been living on the "if it has six strings, it's the same as all the rest" mentality (mostly to cover for the fact that I couldn't afford nice gear). I finally saved up enough money for a nice guitar though and played at least 100 different guitars in 6 or 7 different guitar stores. I got to the end of the day feeling defeated and picked up this guitar for giggles even though I didn't think I wanted the floating pickup thing and oh boy! was I wrong. This blew away every guitar I played that day. In the four years that I've owned this guitar, I have gigged it hundreds of times and taught even more lessons with it. It handles jazz, funk, blues, and indie stuff. I've even run it through some heavy gain stages and it holds up nicely. The smaller body size means that it sits right in the crook of my arm. Incredibly comfortable. It is not going to have the same acoustic body that an L5 is going to have but I think that fact is what makes it so versatile. You can go all the way jazz box with this guitar or you can trick your audience into thinking you're playing a Les Paul! For the working musician who wants a guitar that does it all, I cannot recommend this guitar highly enough. Plays great. Sounds great and it's getting better with age and play wear. What more do you need?

Right out of the box, I tuned it up and began playing on my Fender amp, clean with a little reverb, and wow! Plays like butter, pups are amazing, feel is just right, body is perfect size, the neck is about action, and the tone is wonderful. You will be very happy to buy this guitar. Absolutely!

I bought the LGB 30 when it was released.. Totally blown away by every aspect of the instrument. I couldn't get solid info on the GB10SE guitar. Went to Atlanta to return a very expensive Les Paul, and they had the SE. I am a Guitar Tech by trade. After checking it out for 15 minutes I knew the guitar (despite some issues ) was good. The set up was poor. High action and too much relief. The Bridge pickup was out of alignment. These things were easily remedied, but they are obstacles. I have dealt with several Japanese GB10's, and they were perfect out of the box. This guitar required some work. But the end result was worth it. The neck is straight, the tone is great, and I only see it getting better!

I presently have a Ibanez LGB 10 guitar that I want to upgrade to a GB 10 SE. Is it possible to trade my guitar for this model?
If so, what would be the process?

Question: How does the neck of the GB30 SE compare to the neck of the LGB 30?{ I am referring to fret spacing and string spacing} . I am aware the LGB 30 has 20 frets and GB 10se has 22.
Would appreciate any opinion.

The spacing is a bit smaller, but it's not by enough to cause a problem. they are the same size frets.
