Guild Starfire I Series

Guild

collapse expand iconDescription

Expanding on the double cut body shape made famous by the Starfire IV, V, and VI, the Starfire I DC features semi-hollowbody construction utilizing a mahogany center block for reduced feedback and clear sustain. The Starfire I DC retains the airy, crisp tone you would expect from a semi-hollowbody. In classic style, this double-cutaway guitar features an elegantly arched mahogany top, back, and sides. The 24 3/4” scale length and modern thin“U“ neck profile make for a fast, smooth playing neck, and the 18th fret neck-to-body joint provides easy access to the upper register of the fretboard. Premium Guild Vintage 18 tuners with 18:1 gear ratio and Tune-o-matic bridge ensure that the strings are easy to tune and stay in tune. An injection of rich, vintage tone is provided by Guild’s own HB-2 Alnico II humbuckers, and the included push-pull coil splitting feature allows for singing single coil tones from either pickup.

I've actually had my starfire 1 dc since when it was only offered in one finish, and it's been a great 335 type guitar, keeping in mind it's in the sort of budget range. Needed some setup oob(not surprising) but it's been solid afterward. The pickups are pretty great for budget coil splittable humbuckers, the tuning stability is great, it plays well and sounds good, especially considering the price. I also ended up with a Starfire 1 sc, and it's just as good, although it is more likely to go out of tune if you get too excited with the vibrato. So far I like the starfires, and it's nice to see Guild on headstocks of something decent.

  • love it

just got my DC today and I love it. Nice warm tones and with split coil pickups there is a lot of versatility.
