Great Guitar. Some minor issues, easily solved.
I walked into Guitar Center to buy a new Schecter, and walked out with a Schecter and my first Gretsch too. After playing it 5 minutes, I was in love, and that rarely happens. This is an amazing guitar for the price. Mine came factory setup with a pretty low action and intonation was near perfect on all 6 strings. Individual volume knobs have a nice linear curve to them. Master volume is really steep, but I like that all-or-nothing on my master volume. I like many others had pretty bad tuning issues. After using the tremolo arm, the guitar would return as much as 15-20 cents flat or sharp, especially on the low E and D strings. This could result in a pitch fluctuation of as much as 40 cents. I noticed right away the culprit was the bridge. It was moving when using the tremolo arm, meaning I had some excess friction. I immediately detuned guitar, dressed saddles and nut with fine round file, added a bit of chapstick to all saddle and nut grooves. I also removed spring washer and replaced with a lucky penny for good measure. Reassmebled, and it immediately comes back to within about 3-5 cents of perfect pitch everytime. And that number is getting less and less as everything starts to wear-in. The more I play it, the better and smoother it gets. I usually replace strings on all my guitars with .011's right away, but for I now I will continue to play this guitar with .010's. Going to a heavier gauge will most likely cause new binding issues, which I will address later with a new bone nut and graphite bridge saddles. Cleans are warm and round at the neck pickup, and add just the right amount of grit and brightness at the bridge pickup. Distorted this guitar is suprisingly versatile. I have thrown everything at it. From classic 70's rock overdrive, to the most punishing high gain distortion playing death and black metal. Obviously that role is filled for me by Ibanez and Schecter, but this thing can easily add another awesome dimension to my recordings. Go check one o

Fretboard and electronics are trash
I get black finger tips from the dye used on the fretboard, they dye is really difficult to get off my hands after playing. The pickup selector switch makes bad noise and most of time flipping that switch cause the guitar to short out. It's the worst guitar I own and I truly regret the purchase of this hunk of junk.

Used to own the MIJ duo jet and totally missed it. My main guitars are a '64 reissue ES-335 and a B&G Crossroads. Decided to order this Jet after checking all reviews and feedback. It was playable out of the box. Finish is spectacular, action a shade lower than I like but remarkably no buzz, intonation spot on. The filtertrons surprisingly warmer than I expected. Still gets the jangle in the middle and bridge positions. So good I'm going to use the cliche "punches way, way above the price point". So much so I will spring for the Gretsch Jet hardshell case. The quality truly blurs the lines between MIC, MIJ, and MIA. Haven't even given it a true set up and already impressed.

I got this guitar as a gift from my band for my Birth Day. So I don't know where it was purchased, but I think GC since they shop at the local one for almost everything. They knew I was thinking about getting one with a Bigsby. I love the gold finish. I had to set the action where I like it, the neck is perfect easy to play, no issues, but the strings were way too high and the pickups set to low. I also changed the strings and it plays great! I adjusted the pickup screws a little and found that helped the string balance some. Playing through my Deluxe Reverb the pickups sound kind of weak, and only measure around 4k neck and 4.5 bridge, not bad but I'd like a little more gain from them something closer to my '91 Gibson Les Paul, as this will be my backup guitar. I'll be shopping for replacement pickups soon. I'd give it 5 stars if I didn't feel a need to replace the pickups.

This is my first Gretsch. It's also my first Bigsby. I'm really impressed with this guitar.I punches way above it's weight. I picked it up a local GC, and it felt great. It's one of the few guitars I have not had to do a setup on immediately. It's a mahogany body with a maple top just like an LP, so no weird "cheap" woods. These Filter'Tron pickups really sparkle. My only real issue is with the Bigsby, but that seems to be normal. I lubed up the nut when I changed strings, but it still gets out of tune when I use it. Although someone told me trick to bend back up after and weirdly enough that worked some to keep it in tune. This guitar has made me want another Gretsch.

love this thing , put a string spoiler on and lubed up the bridge and saddle friction points with lil luber and she stays in tune with even some dramatic tremolo action, played through tube amps and a tonemaster deluxe reverb ith celestion and sounds so good

Will the Gretsch Pro jet fit a Les Paul case?
It will not. The body is a bit bigger than a less paul, plus you need the extra space for the bigsby.submitted5 years ago
