Description
Gretsch G2627T Streamliner: Classic Gretsch Style With Modern Performance
The Gretsch G2627T Streamliner center block 3-pickup cateye electric guitar is the perfect blend of vintage aesthetics and contemporary functionality. Featuring three Broad'Tron humbucking pickups, a spruce center block, and a double-cutaway design, the G2627T delivers full-bodied tone, incredible feedback resistance, and iconic Gretsch style. Whether you’re playing rockabilly, jazz, blues, or rock, this Gretsch G2627T Streamliner is designed to perform with power and precision.
Broad'Tron Pickups Deliver Iconic Gretsch Growl
The heart of the G2627T Streamliner’s sound lies in its three Broad'Tron humbucking pickups, which offer the rich, articulate tone that Gretsch is famous for. With tight lows, crisp highs, and a throaty midrange, these pickups deliver a dynamic sound that cuts through any mix. The spruce center block strengthens the maple top and eliminates unwanted feedback, even at high gain levels, ensuring clarity and punch during loud performances.
Versatile Electronics for Endless Tonal Options
The G2627T Streamliner is loaded with versatile electronics that give you ultimate control over your tone. Two three-way toggle switches and individual volume knobs for the neck, middle, and bridge pickups let you experiment with a wide range of sounds. Blend all three pickups for a full, resonant tone or isolate one for focused clarity. The master volume and tone knobs allow for easy adjustments, making the G2627T ideal for any genre or playing style.
Smooth and Comfortable Playability
Designed with comfort in mind, the Gretsch G2627T features a 12"-radius laurel fingerboard with 22 medium-jumbo frets on a slim nato neck. The thin U-shaped neck profile provides a fast, smooth feel, perfect for intricate solos or extended playing sessions. Pearloid Small Block inlays add a touch of elegance to the fingerboard, complementing the guitar’s vintage-inspired aesthetic.
Timeless Gretsch Style With a Modern Edge
The G2627T Streamliner is a visual stunner with its arched laminated maple construction, cateye F-holes, and vintage-style control knobs. The aged white binding, black pickguard, and nickel hardware complete the retro look, while the Bigsby B70 vibrato tailpiece adds expressive pitch modulation for dynamic playing. With upgraded construction and electronics, this guitar delivers the best of Gretsch’s classic style and modern performance.

Needs a break-in period FOR SURE.
TL;DR, this guitar is a great value. I'm a casual player. I've been playing for probably a decade and a half, give or take. Never professionally, and never had proper lessons. Just self-taught.. so take my review with a grain of salt. I'm not the type to guess the tree's name that the guitar was cut from by smelling the fingertips of the last person that played it. I bought this guitar from my local (Houston area) Guitar Center for $399 during a Black Friday sale. I had to choose between this model, and a very similar (but 2 pickup) model that was also a Guitar Center exclusive like this one. I ended up going with the G2627T in Georgia Green because.. hey, extra pickup, larger discount. They wrapped it, boxed it, and I was on my way. I got home and plugged it into my novice little Peavey VIP-1 amp and started grooving. The sound was fantastic right out of the box. Having 3 pickups really does make a difference on how dynamic the sound of this guitar can be. I play mostly blues and some rock and this nails both easily. The pickup situation was a little more sophisticated than I was accustomed to, thanks to the 2 separate switches and 5 knobs, but I got it all down pretty quickly. There was no documentation to speak of included with the guitar, so I just googled away for a bit until I was confident on the controls. Once I familiarized myself with the guitar, I was able to play more seriously for several hours straight and I could only find one reasonable issue with this guitar.. But as I said before, I am a casual player - and this is my first experience with a Bigsby. This thing would not stay in tune for the first hour or so... After I really went to town on this Bigsby, this issue started to solve itself.. but it took some time and countless re-tunes for it to stay tuned. I ended up just pushing in the bar all the way, then pulling it out some, then bending the life out of the strings, re-tuning, and repeating until these issues went away.. Thankfully, this worked 100%. Another minor gripe (perhaps unreasonable) there seems to be some blemishes on the binding of the F holes, where the neck joins with the body, and around the strap buttons. I wouldn't even call this an eyesore, but it is certainly noticeable upon a close inspection. Bubbles/scratches/discolorations

Not a bad entry-level Gretsch, especially if on SALE
I bought this guitar specifically for a "project" as the "Stupid Deal of the Day" price I got it for was a no-brainer. This is my 6th Gretsch... The guitar's fit and finish aren't bad actually, I was surprised by the quality, binding, fretboard, etc., were all better than I expected. Certainly better than some of the Epi Casinos / Dots that I've played / owned, and with a bit more character to boot. Compared to my '64 6186 Clipper, this guitar's measurements are identical. Width, height, neck angle, etc. Only difference is that the '64 is a single cut-away and the 2627T is a double-cutaway. No doubt many people will be happy with this guitar right out of the box. BUT... if you want a GRETSCH, there's more than a few things wrong with this guitar, starting with the pickups. Made by G&B, they're fairly lifeless (and certainly not the twang you'd get from a proper pair of Filter'Trons). I'll be replacing mine shortly. In fact, they pale when compared to my Hi'Lo-Tron models too. Extra points for the cats-eye sound holes, but the rest of the cosmetics are pretty bad. But, replace the ugly black knobs with chrome "G's" and swap the pickups and you should have a winner here. The Bigsby B70 is what it is, some don't mind 'em, some hate 'em. The pickup switching might be confusing to some (and the controls might be hard to figure out) but the easiest way to remember is that the first switch works just like a 2-pickup Gibson switch would (N, B, B&N) and the second switch turns the middle pickup off, on, or on by itself. There's five knobs; the master volume is where it should be (at least on a Gretsch!) and there's three individual volumes plus one master tone as well. People who complain about having only one tone knob should consider themselves lucky... a proper Gretsch would have only a mud switch! My other Gretsch's are a '63 Tennessean (6119), '64 Clipper (6186), '03 Nashville (6120), Broadkaster Bass (5123B), a Rancher Jumbo, and this one (2627T).

My 7th Gretsch, so I knew what I was getting into! I needed a less expensive model for travel and this fits the bill nicely. There pickups and two control switches make this a lot of fun to play around and experiment. Good, solid guitar with lots of guts and ability to crunch!

So if you were looking for a steal on a semi-hollow, this 2627T is it. The guitar was really well prepared out of the box. The three pickup configuration adds wonderful diversity of tone and while the fretboard needed a little work to soften and smooth, it has ended up being one of my favorites to play and all for under $500!

I have always wanted a Semi-Hollow Body. I was not really looking when I stumbled on to this Beauty. It took me a while to figure out the three pickups, but once I tackled that, I've been in love with the different sounds it produces. Great for Blues, Jazz, and a little Rock.

What case did you use to fit this guitar. I have it and am struggling to find a good case that doesn't compromise the neck.
