Godin

collapse expand iconDescription

The acoustic-electric MulitOud Encore Nylon SG from Godin Guitars lets you take the oud, an ancient 11-string instrument with origins in the Middle East, to places it's never gone before. With an innovative design that includes an EPM Quantum 1T electronics system with undersaddle transducer, you can plug in and be heard in a crowd or over the mix in a band situation, but more importantly you have volume, bass and treble control via the onboard preamp, right at your fingertips.

The oud is traditionally hard to keep in tune. But with this intelligently crafted reworking by Godin, you have custom machine heads and a bulit-in chromatic tuner to make that issue a thing of the past. While the first ouds were pear-shaped and had a bulbous back to them, the MultiOud has a more modern flat-back style and even gives you a cutaway in the upper bout for better access to the entire fretboard.

The two-chambered Canadian Laurentian basswood body and solid cedar top offer ample projection when you aren't plugged in, and its fretless rosewood fingerboard and rosewood bridge give it a nice, naturally beautiful aesthetic. All in all, this is one instrument that is sure to turn heads and turn more people on to the distinct sound of the oud. Includes gig bag.

Quality material all over this instrument. Looking forward to set it up for gigs easy to tune and adjust. need to fool around with the amp to get that perfect sound... This instrument is very heavy compared to the acoustic oud. Will take a normal oud player a few hours to get used to its fretboard spacing is wider and playing it needs a slight different stroke with the fret. Overall very happy with this instrument.

Where...How..what?? This remodling of the middle eastern oud is a fantastic addition to anyone's stringed instrument collection..No matter your playing preference. This doesn'tl sound or, play like any 12 sting... Yes; eleven string with a single low E and the high B and E are of the classical nylon. Open Geared tuners are gorgeous and functional which really helps with initial nylon string stretch tuning issues. This isn't an easy instrument to master..but...It's just so interesting. What an awesome sound this single low E produces. 1, 2, or 3 stringsounds the best.. It's so fun playing slides up and down trying to connect..Hit the right..So fun!! Wait until you plug this in!!(

Have very quickly found this Inuk as my "reach for" for just messing around.. But also when wanting to be creative. Tuned; D, A,C,G,D,A .. is a fun alternative to normal tuning. That single E(drop D) string sounds as impressive as any deep bass. Wider by enough to frustrate full comlplex cords. On the 4 higher strings you are in tune as a tenor Workmanship is great as expected. My new favorite!
