Gibson Custom's Historic Series are far beyond being copies. A lot of time, effort and research went into the details of making a guitar that is as close as you can get to what you would have found hanging on the wall of your local music store when they were first produced. Here's what Gibson Custom has to say about this 1957 Les Paul Goldtop Reissue VOS electric guitar:

"The iconic '57 Goldtop has been the tool of choice for countless guitar heroes. Its elegant gold finish, classic solid mahogany/maple construction and versatile humbucking pickups make one wonder, 'What else can I possibly need in a guitar?' This is probably why it gained the reputation as the 'working man's Les Paul'—less flashy than its figured-top sunburst counterparts from 1958-1960, but almost identical under the hood.

Part of their Historic Series recreations, this 1957 Les Paul Goldtop Reissue VOS electric guitar exemplifies Gibson Custom Shop's tireless quest for exacting accuracy to the original year of production, from the woods to the construction to the parts and precise contours throughout. Two new updates for this 2018 model include the inclusion of all True Historic-spec parts and, for the first time, narrow/tall frets which bring the tone and playability closer to the character of the originals.

It comes with a hardshell case.

For the music I like this guitar is as close to it gets to a universal instrument and there's simply nothing that could be improved upon in sound, playability, and appearance. I'm grateful to own this masterpiece!

I didn't want to spend the extra $$$ for the 59 - so I thought I'd "settle" for the 57. However, the one I received didn't have the chunky 57 neck - it feels more like the 59 neck. Then I noticed in the description that while it does say VOS - it doesn't actually say "historic". So maybe it's a 57 Gold Top with a 59 neck? Anyway - it's the best feeling Les Paul I've ever played.

What does VOS mean? Is It a reference to the finish or something else about the guitar?
