G&L MFD Pickups Provide a Versatile Single-Coil Voice

The CLF Research S-500 features a trio of Leo Fender-designed G&L MFD single-coil pickups that provide a range of tones from sparkling cleans to raunchy grit. The bridge pickup has an aggressive, biting tone perfect for rock and blues leads. The neck pickup produces warm, rounded tones ideal for jazz and cleans. The middle pickup adds quack and snap. With the five-way switch you can access each pickup individually or blend pickups for even more tonal variety.

Passive Treble-Bass Circuitry Offers Enhanced Tone Control

Rather than a standard tone control, the CLF Research S-500 provides separate Treble and Bass controls that dramatically cut treble and bass frequencies. This allows you to shape your tone with surgical precision. Dial back the treble for a warmer, darker sound or cut the bass for a thinner, more cutting tone. With the level of control these knobs provide, you can achieve any tone from bright and crisp to warm and mellow.

Expander Switch Provides Additional Pickup Combinations

A mini-toggle expander switch on the CLF Research S-500 adds extra pickup selections for a wider range of tones. With the 5-way switch in either extreme position, the expander switch gives you access to the bridge and neck pickups together or all three pickups at once. Engaging these additional pickup combinations produces tones ranging from jangly and chimey to full and complex.

Dual-Fulcrum Bridge Provides Stability and Sustain

The CLF Research S-500 features a Leo Fender-designed Dual-Fulcrum vibrato bridge. This bridge has individually adjustable brass saddles for precise intonation and solid tuning stability. Its dual-fulcrum design also enhances string vibration for improved sustain. The vibrato arm allows you to subtly bend notes sharp or flat, adding expression to your playing.
