Fishman

collapse expand iconDescription

The Fluence Modern Humbucker pickup set from Fishman deliver classic humbucker tone without the noise. Each pickup provides two distinct voices to shape your tone - from vintage-inspired warmth to tight, aggressive modern tones.

Fluence Core Technology Provides Pristine Tone

At the heart of the Fluence Modern Humbuckers is Fishman's revolutionary Fluence Core, which allows these pickups to produce the full range of humbucker tones without the frustration of noise or signal loss. The result is a smooth, clear tone that lets the natural voice of your guitar shine through, even at high gain or extreme volume levels.

Two Useful Voices in Each Pickup

The Fluence Modern Humbucker set gives you tonal versatility unlike any other humbucker. The neck pickup features a vintage-voiced alnico tone for full, musical chords and solos as well as a unique wide-range voice. The bridge pickup provides a tight, aggressive modern tone with solid bass and crisp highs as well as a high-output voice made for overdrive and distortion. With a flip of a switch, you can access two complimentary but distinct sounds in each pickup.

Studio-Ready Performance

The Fluence Modern Humbuckers are made for players and producers who demand the best tone and performance. The active electronics and included 25k pots provide a smooth, wide range of control over your tone. And with a rechargeable battery, you'll experience consistent, noise-free tone for weeks between charges. For studio use or live playing, the Fluence Modern Humbucker set gives you the power to shape your tone with unparalleled versatility and performance.

Easy Drop-In Upgrade

If you're looking to upgrade the tone of your existing guitar without an extensive modification, the Fluence Modern Humbuckers are an easy solution. They install directly into most standard humbucker routing with no additional routing required. All the components you need to get started, including pre-wired pickups, pots, battery pack and wiring, are included in the set. The Fluence Modern Humbucker set lets you unlock your guitar's full tonal potential without a complicated installation process.

Next Level

I just installed these in my baritone Viper tuned to DropG and hoooolly ***!! I expected nice articulation and clarity but I didn't think they'd sound THIS good. These are truly next-level and I don't think anything else comes close. The lows are just nasty, the tightness, bite, the attack…it's just drool-worthy and I can't put the guitar down. The definition is consistent across every string but nothing ever sounds harsh or treble-y. Most 'metal' pickups are all about output and I've never understood that. Too hot, too boomy, too compressed, etc. Both voices are extremely useful and the neck never gets muddy. Cleans are nice and flat, nothing in the EQ is 'boosted' so it's the perfect platform for layering effects. I was skeptical about all the hype and rave reviews but I stand humbly corrected. It's all true and I can't recommend the Fishman Fluence Moderns enough. They are extraordinary.

they're okay, but you could do better

Put these in a guitar, and the neck pickup was junk. Just did not work, even when the wiring was correct. Switched it to the bridge position which was working and it still wouldn't work. Had to drive to a couple guitar centers to get an exchange, and finally after installing a neck pickup that wasn't dead, they sound pretty good, definitely one of the best pair of pickups I've put in. i probably would not buy them again, and would definitely go with the solderless emgs. I would only recommend these over emgs to you if you absolutely love soldering and are into the tones Fishman provides. The wiring diagrams Fishman provides are decent but assume that you are using their battery pack or that you have a different switch than you do etc, hard to find one exactly for what you need. The pickups are cool, love the different voices, just wish quality control was better and the diagrams weren't so broad. Also if Fishman could figure out a solderless system, I think they would have a lot more over the emgs.

Great pickups, love all the voicing options ability to split the coils. Seems like these are steadily taking over EMG as my new favorite pickups

  • Voicing options are cool, but it's a lot of hype

I've been using modern for probably like six months now and I can confidently say that while they do sound Clear and have a great note definition, There is this particularly annoying mid range honk That is very harsh to my ears. In my opinion these don't beat 81 85

Great sounding pickups. I have been an EMG person for a long times. Still love my EMGs but fishmans just offer a different flavor. I got three sets of them now. If you don't know how to solder or don't like to solder than I highly recomend EMGs with the solderless system but if you got a couple hours and kinda know what your doing it's worth it .

  • These are the best active pickups

I've played with the typical EMG 81/85 setup and other sets - these will break your bones. They are packed with tone options including coil tap and tilt. Kit comes with everything you will need to install or even retrofit minus a selector switch (BYO). This is my second set as the first one went into my baritone ESP 6 string. This set went into my Explorer as an upgrade from passives. Blew me away again the second time! Would buy them again!

  • Better than EMG or any stock pickups

Had these installed on my Shecter Demon 6 and wow!!!. I read reviews that wiring and battery compartment is brutal to install but, not really. The battery compartment didn't need replacement at all,( maybe if your switching from passive) only a few re-wire here and there with replacing the pots and bam your set. Or pay GC $169 and be happy.

I would love to use these for a metal strat build. Do I need to find a way to power these with a 9-volt or a rechargeable battery pack? I'm sort of confused by the description. What is the "optional battery pack"?

What is in the box? Just the two pickups, or are the push/pull pots included?
