collapse expand iconDescription

The Fender USA Geddy Lee Signature jazz bass has been designed with input from the legendary Rush bassist himself, this signature model combines the best features of Lee's favorite basses into one high-performance instrument. With custom-voiced pickups, an iconic jazz bass sound and feel and a Geddy Lee high-mass bridge for rock-solid stability, this bass delivers enormous tone that crackles with life. The maple fingerboard and fast-playing neck inspire fluidity and articulation. For bassists who want an instrument with history and gravitas, the USA Geddy Lee Signature jazz bass is a must-have.

Custom-Voiced Pickups Provide Unique Tone

The USA Geddy Lee Signature jazz bass features American Vintage '70s pickups that are custom-voiced to sound like those in Lee's 1972 jazz bass. These pickups deliver fat low end, punchy mids and classic jazz bass growl that cuts through the mix. The tone is highly articulate and responsive, perfect for emulating Lee's signature sound or forging your own sonic path.

Iconic Jazz Bass Sound and Feel

With an alder body, maple neck and fingerboard, the USA Geddy Lee Signature jazz bass provides the quintessential jazz bass experience. The slim, comfortable neck and medium jumbo frets make it easy to blaze across the fingerboard. A bone nut and saddle add warmth and resonance. The sound is full, punchy and growly—exactly what you want in an iconic jazz bass.

Geddy Lee High-Mass Bridge for Rock Solid Stability

The USA Geddy Lee Signature jazz bass features a Geddy Lee high-mass bridge that provides exceptional tuning stability and intonation. With more mass than a standard jazz bass bridge, this bridge significantly improves sustain and resonance. The bridge's contemporary styling gives this signature bass a sleek, high-performance look.

Maple Fingerboard and Neck Inspire Fast Playability

The maple fingerboard and neck on the USA Geddy Lee Signature jazz bass deliver a smooth playing feel that facilitates speed and articulation. The fingerboard has elegant white binding, white pearloid block inlays and a 9.5" radius for comfortable chording and soloing. A hand-rubbed oil finish on the back of the neck enhances playability. Overall, the neck construction and profile make this a bass that begs to be played.

Geddy Lee is the reason I started playing the bass. Now I understand why he has played this bass for so many years. It plays and sounds amazing.

I was actually looking at a different bass and saw this one and wanted to try it as if heardcreally good things about it. I previously had a Japanese Fender GL and have always regretted letting it go for the low price I did. Fell in love with this one right away. Neck is completely different from the Japanese (now Mexican) GL basses. I personally love it. It's thicker, feels a bit sturdier, love the pre sanded finish (reminds me a bit of my Music Man necks which I love). So easy and fun to play. The pickups on these are a Huge improvement. Very punchy, aggressive (but not in a bad way) and strong. They cut right thru on stage. Fret markers are blond on maple which I wasn't crazy about but in person they actually look so much better (stage lights off of them look even better btw). Was hesitant at first (went back multiple times before pulling the trigger) as I am a huge Rush fan (but don't play that type of music, play in cover bands) so didn't wanna buy it as a fanboy lol. So glad I finally did pull the trigger this is an AMAZING bass. Even if you're not a Rush fan check this bass out, take off the Geddy Lee name and it's still an incredible Jazz Bass that is so much fun to play.

  • I will probably own this bass for the rest of my life

And I'm only 22! Seriously though... Like the other guy said - this is fairly close to custom shop quality equipment. I can feel it slowly becoming a part of me and my style; adapting and molding to it. The best thing about it is definitely the neck. Took some getting used to at first but now when I compare it to other basses in store, this finish definitely feels the best. (so far haha) down the center of the neck around the skunk stripe it has a heavenly satin/oil finish; not too bare not to sticky. as it gets close to the binding it is a regular gloss finish which seems to be good for grip. Best of both IMO. The body is relatively light weight and perfectly balanced! plus the aesthetics are top notch, neck inlays are beautiful especially in the right light. Manifique! Sure you either have to take the neck or pickguard off to adjust the truss rod but hey, Fenders are designed to do that so it doesn't really bother me much. If I had to name a con, It would be the pick ups. I understand they are close to the pure vintage 70's set but 'custom voiced' As per Geddy's specs. They sound great but don't have as much growl as a standard alnico V jazz set; But thats just me. I sold almost all my bass gear to get this and I'm not disappointed! I am feeling an empty spot for a P bass though ;P

  • Excellent sounding Fender Jazz sound.

I love the sound on this bass. It has that deep, warm Fender Jazz sound that no other bass can copy. The neck has a great feel is comfortable to play. The electronics are the standard Fender setup that cuts out frequencies and dump everything when you try to tune out both the highs and lows. You are better off just leaving the bass turned up full and use your amp or pedal to shape the sound. Personally, I like the sound as-is, through a good, beefy amp. I prefer the black inlays, but I really preferred the sound on this model of bass, so I can live with the white blocks.

Awesome bass. Worth every penny. My other tools (for background): '89 USA p bass plus and early 2000's USA Peavey Millennium 5 string. The p bass neck is standard width and string spacing but not as thick as a standard p. To me a standard p feels fat. The thickness of the Peavey is similar to the p, but the string spacing is more like a jazz. Neck: Love it. Everything up top feels like a jazz but the contour on the back is definitely more rounded. Given the two previously mentioned instruments, to me this is a really fast neck. The craftsmanship of everything from the hardware to the binding to the finish is top notch. I absolutely love the block inlays and the way the two finishes are blended... from the silky feel on the back to the glossy hard feel everywhere else. Be advised that my guy had to do a full turn on the truss rod to get it where it needed to be. Not a bad thing, still plenty to work with. Just be advised that it needs to be setup just like most new instruments. Body: Pretty straight forward jazz body. Doesn't feel heavy. Nice finish. Black color shows every mark, so be prepared for that. If you're wanting to put it in a glass case and call it a collector's item you need to handle it with kid gloves. Love the white pearl pickguard, and the bridge is massive and does everything you need it to do. Pickups: This is what I've been missing all these years. These are super awesome, nasty, growly, punchy, bassy, full sounding pickups. You'll love em. Bottom Line: The neck, pickups and overall craftsmanship provided by the folks at Fender USA make the price of admission totally worth while. While it's not a custom shop instrument, the engineering is definitely on that level. If you want to sound like Geddy, buy this and you supply the fingers. If you just want a solid jazz bass that's capable of sounding a bit rough around the edges, you might want to take a look.

Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing what the blemish is. However, it would only be a minor cosmetic flaw and would not effect this bass guitars play ability.

A couple of dings on the bottom of the base. Purely cosmetic and not affecting how it sounds or plays.
