Player Series Stratocaster Demo | Fender

Description
Fender's Player Series Stratocaster puts a contemporary spin on the iconic Strat. Primed to inspire players of all levels with its versatile sound and smooth playability, this limited-edition model features an alder body with a glossy finish and a maple fretboard for a crisp, articulate tone. Powered by three newly designed Player Series single-coil Stratocaster pickups, it delivers the unmistakable bell-like highs, punchy mids and solid low end that have come to define the Stratocaster sound.
New Pickups Provide Endless Tonal Possibilities
The heart of the Player Stratocaster's tone lies in its three Player Series single-coil pickups. Designed by Fender specifically for this guitar, these pickups provide a wide range of tones from glassy and chimey to warm and rounded. The pickup selector switch gives players instant access to neck, middle, bridge or all three pickups at once for a variety of combinations. Roll the tone knob up or down to cut highs for a warmer, more vintage-inspired tone or keep them open for extra sparkle.
Comfortable Contours and Fast, Easy Playability
Everything about the Player Stratocaster is designed for comfort and speed. Its alder body contours to the shape of your body, while the modern C-shaped neck profile offers an ideal balance of thickness and shallowness. A 9.5" fretboard radius and medium-jumbo frets also facilitate smooth bending and fretting. For players seeking maximum expression, the two-point fulcrum vibrato bridge provides subtle pitch bending effects.
A Timeless Design With Modern Appeal
While the Player Stratocaster pays homage to the classic Stratocaster design, small touches give it a contemporary vibe. A synthetic bone nut and bent steel saddles on the bridge provide exceptional tuning stability and sustain. Understated cosmetic upgrades like the parchment pickguard and control knobs also lend a sleek, modern aesthetic. Overall, the Player Stratocaster delivers the perfect blend of vintage-inspired sound and style with present-day playability and performance.

Very Happy
After years of playing, I decided to treat myself to a Fender. I don't gig or anything so I've always just played lower tier guitars. Out of the box this guitar was perfect in every way. I tuned it to pitch, did a quick test for free buzz/dead spots, checked intonation, and tested the wiggle stick. No exaggeration, it was flawless. Fretwork was perfect, something I'm particularly anal about having taught myself and "fixed" several guitars. The neck feels buttery smooth and the frets are like glass. I had some reservations being that this is Fender's entry into their collection (after Squier of course), but I was extremely happy when I unboxed it, tuned it, and tested it. Why did I choose this particular guitar? I was in a Guitar Center for the first time last month, and I saw this Surf Green Pearl on a stand on the floor. The color at first was a little strange, but when I picked it up, I just fell in love with how it caught the light. The neck on that demo felt like a guitar that had been played-in. The frets felt amazing, no sharp edges or sprout. I told myself I'll sleep on it. Maybe come back and get THAT one. Ultimately, I opted for a brand new one, and couldn't be happier. It feels just like the one in the store. That's 2 of these back to back that felt so good. I've read some reviews that point to an opposite experience, which gave me some reservations about ordering one. However, every experience is different, and in my experience, I'd say they knocked it out of the park. If I were to get picky, and was told I HAD to find a flaw, the only thing I can find is there's the smallest gap between the neck and the body. Not even wide enough to slip a pick into, but enough to see. It's so small and insignificant, but that's all that I could find as a "flaw". I can't put the guitar down, and that's what it's all about. It keeps me inspired to keep playing.

It's OK
The actual guitar itself and electronics are fine. The frets are fine. Nothing at all at first feel to knock. Not that I really want to. BUT, there's 2 problems that really rubbed me the wrong way considering the price hike from 499-599 to 799-1049 that the MIM strats have gone through over the years. First, it seems they painted/lacquered over the frets. It kept buzzing as it was flaking from playing and was likely why the strings were set over 3/8 from the frets from either the shop or factory. After some time of trying not to care about buzzing, eventually enough flaked off for the buzzing to stop. The second issue, half of the bridge saddles were stripped. Had to remove the offending saddles and replace the little allen screws with ones I had leftover from upgrading a different guitar. Not sure if it was GC trying to compensate for the buzzing flakes or if it was from Fender. It's what it is I guess. Other than that it's perfectly fine. Plays nice now that it's set up, sounds great, looks nice, and feels nice besides a small handful of frets I don't use as much that still have some lacquer on them. I'm not trying to henpeck it or sound like a snob, but especially the stripped saddles with the strings in the stratosphere are unacceptable on a BRAND NEW GUITAR. Would be 5 stars if not for the initial issues. I attached a picture from when I was fixing the saddles of what was left of the flaking. At that point, it wasn't buzzing much anymore, and my camera isn't very good, but you can still see some of the lacquer over the frets.

I haven't really wanted a Stratocaster until just a few years ago. I don't know why now. This guitar is brilliant! It came set up nicely. I just tuned up the strings, and it was perfect.

The Strat has all the high end parts that you'd expect on the top of line model. It will come not set up, so you'll have to dial it in or have it set up professionally. Once set up at a dream to play. Really cool color too! #sweepstakes
