Fender Jim Adkins JA-90 Telecaster Thinline Electric Guitar Natural

Description
The Fender Jim Adkins JA-90 Telecaster Thinline Electric Guitar delivers the authentic mid-2000s tone and vibe of the Jimmy Eat World frontman's distinctive instrument. Adkins collaborated with Fender to design this semi-hollow guitar, based on his TC-90 Telecaster and hot-rodded with several special modifications that make it the very embodiment of sonic "sweetness".
Semi-Hollow Ash Body Resonates
The JA-90 Telecaster Thinline's semi-hollow ash body provides warmth and resonance, while its maple set neck offers stability and sustain. The combination results in a balanced tone that rings through crunchy overdrive and shimmers on clean settings.
Seymour Duncan Soapbar Pickups Drive
This signature model features a Seymour Duncan SP90-1NRWRP Vintage P-90 neck pickup and SP90-3B Custom P-90 bridge pickup. The P-90 "soapbar" design delivers a punchy yet rounded tone with rich harmonics, ideal for alt-rock sounds.
Modern Specs Accommodate Contemporary Players
With a 9.5" fingerboard radius, medium jumbo frets, and C-shaped neck profile, the JA-90 Telecaster Thinline offers a fast, comfortable playing experience for contemporary guitarists. Its Adjusto-Matic bridge also provides stable intonation for complex chord progressions and melodies.
Premium Appointments Complete the Package
Premium features include a matching painted headstock, Jim Adkins' signature on the back of the headstock, oversized strap buttons, and knurled chrome control knobs. Together with the semi-hollow ash body and high-performance pickups, these appointments make the JA-90 Telecaster Thinline a professional-grade instrument ready for the stage.

"The Perfect Marriage of Elegance and Power!"

As someone who has played countless guitars over the years, the Jim Adkins JA-90 Fender Telecaster in white has completely redefined what I thought I wanted in a guitar. This isn't just a Telecaster—it's an entirely different beast, and I'm here for it. The JA-90 takes the classic Tele shape and infuses it with the soul of a Gibson Les Paul. The semi-hollow mahogany body provides warm, rich tones, while the set neck construction delivers sustain for days. The combination of the Seymour Duncan P-90 pickups and a tone chambered body offers unmatched versatility—crystal-clear cleans, growling mids, and roaring overdrive tones are all at your fingertips. What sets this guitar apart is how effortless it is to play. The 12" radius fretboard is smooth as silk, perfect for both intricate leads and comfortable chords. The craftsmanship is top-notch; from the binding to the satin finish, this guitar screams elegance. And let's not forget the aesthetics—this arctic white beauty is a showstopper, guaranteed to turn heads on any stage. If you're on the fence about this guitar, let me save you the trouble: just buy it. Whether you're a seasoned player or someone ready to step up to a premium instrument, the JA-90 will inspire you in ways you didn't know a guitar could. Fender and Jim Adkins nailed it with this one. 5/5 stars. Absolute perfection!
I really love this guitar

This is a great guitar The weight and comfortable neck and the sound are superb. BUT! the pickups were completely wrapped in protective plastic around the sides and part of the back of the pickups!!! It was almost impossible to remove and a very messy residue was left. I had to order new pickup covers.
Fantastic Guitar - Well undervalued - Excellent in every way

I have a number of guitars - Guild's Gibson's D'Angelico and even some high end Epiphone's and I wanted a Telecaster and this one looked interesting and unique. I write and record my own compositions so sounds produced by instruments are important. This Tele is a plus positive for me!
Awesome Guitar!

I've been a Gibson guy my whole life (still am) but after I heard the P90s in this Telecaster, I realized that this was the change of pace I needed. I bought mine used through GC and it came with Graph Tech Ratio Tuners (highly recommended). This guitar has the bite and clarity of a Telecaster with the presence and balls of a LP. Great for almost any genre of music except maybe metal. Build quality is what you would expect at this price point. Sounds good through all my amps. Warning: these P90s are hot! Very touch-sensitive! They will make you readjust every knob on your amp.
An intersting blend of features...a Gibder? A Fenson?

First the good: This is a solid feeling guitar and much heavier than I thought it would be (bought online). It weighs in at 8.5 lbs where the other thinline models I've played were in the 6 lb range. I really like the 24.75" scale and as mine is a 2019 it has the laurel fret-board. I was a little apprehensive about laurel, but it's just fine in appearance, feel and perceived tone.It plays easily and is a fun guitar to play. The paint on this one is white and the guitar has a "tuxedo" appearance. I also like the 2-tone, 2-vol pots setup. They work well and can help make some cool blends between the pickups. The SD pickups are really nice sounding and can go from sparkle clean to hard rock easily. There is a limit though to the amp gain you can throw at this one. As it's semi-hollow at some point you'll get feed back. Now the not so good: While I generally like the feel of the neck, it's a little sticky due to paint and finish and not as fast as I'd prefer. Once I've 100% decided to keep it, I might take some steel wool to the back of the neck to remove the plastic, sticky feel. One other thing is the 60-cycle hum from these pickups. It is annoyingly loud. Other reviews I've seen on-line for this model have the same, loud humming thing going on. It's weird because I have some other guitars w/ P90's and they are much quieter. I'll check this one to make sure there isn't a weak ground and maybe add some copper foil in the cavity. I really like how they sound when being played, but I'll find some quieter pickups if I can't cure it. Lastly, this guitar is made in the Indonesia factory where some Squiers are made so Fender opted to "cheap it out" with lower quality tuners, lower quality pots and laurel for the fingerboard. And then they charge more new than a MIM guitar. Weird thinking. Everything said, I really like the guitar and think the Gibson/Fender blend of features is remarkably good! I can't think many people would be unhappy with the tone, feel and play-ability
Love it

I was hesitant with the price because these are built in Indonesia, but I was proved that doesn't matter. Quality is better than the new MIM Fender's I've bought in the past few years. Only mod I did as soon as I got it ( I put locking tuners on all my guitars) was upgraded the tuners to Shaller M6 2 pin, direct swap, no frilly or modification. Stock seymour Duncan's sound awesome, fretwork is perfect.
