Fender

collapse expand iconDescription

When Fender rolled out the American Ultra Series Stratocaster in 2019 after more than two years of development, it was obvious that it was designed for players who want Fender's most advanced, highest-performance, American-made Strat ever. How could it be even more awesome? We teamed up with Fender to add a Guitar Center-exclusive Denim Burst finish over a AA flame maple top and painted headstock with the Fender logo in silver, plus a striped ebony fingerboard. Combine that with the fifth-generation Noiseless pickups, advanced electronics, tapered heel and body contours, and an upgraded neck shape in maple with rolled edges. It all adds up to a Stratocaster that plays as comfortably as your favorite old pair of dungarees. But don’t let these modern updates fool you—the vibe of the American Ultra Denim Burst Strat is still classic Fender.

Fender American Ultra Denim Burst Strat Main Features

  • 3 vintage single-coil Noiseless pickups
  • Master volume with S-1 switch and individual tone controls, 5-way switch
  • Rolled compound-radius ebony fingerboard
  • Modern D-shaped tapered maple neck

Ultra Noiseless pickups

Fender first went noiseless back in 1998; the American Ultra Denim Burst Stratocaster features the 5th generation of these pickups, with decades of refinement behind them. It's classic, single-coil sound with zero noise and hum.

Advanced electronics

An S-1 switch is nested into the volume knob, adding the neck pickup to any switch position. A treble bleed circuit maintains the highs even when you dial down the volume.

Rolled edges

The 10" to 14" compound-radius neck makes for easy chording on the lower frets, with a flatter profile for faster fretting and more accurate bends on the upper registers. The special striped ebony fingerboard has rolled edges for added comfort.

New neck contour

The Fender American Ultra Denim Burst Strat neck has a modern-D profile. It’s flatter than a standard-D, with a faster back and a little more “meat” on the shoulders. Fender created an all-new process to apply a thin coat of satin urethane, giving the neck a completely smooth, raw wood feel. Your hands won’t stick here.

  • Denim Strat American Ultra No-Load & S-1 Knobs (Beautiful)

This is a stunningly beautiful instrument. The ebony fretboard and neck let you glide up and down the fredboard and neck. This guitar costs about 25% more than the normal Ultra Strat's but it worth every penny with a No-Load Tone knob and the S-1 coupled with the 5 position switch giving you 7 configurations of noiseless pickup selections, where you can pick all or one or two pickups in any combination.. The bottom Tone Knob is a No-Load so when you turn past 9, you hit detent where the knob will seem to catch; once you go past this detent, you taking the tone out of the circuit bypassing it - you get more natural sound from the pick ups. The attention to detail and the sound of this guitar is top notch. This is the kind of Guitar that deserves to played, or it should be displayed at Hard Rock Cafe in a glass picture box!

This is an amazing guitar that plays and sounds as good as it looks. The compound radius fretboard is great. The S1 switch adds a lot of versatility. I can get any tone I want out of this guitar. Truly a fantastic guitar!

  • Needed a 2nd Ultra for my original '91. I want 2 of these!

Plays great, looks great, setup nearly perfectly. The side dots are tough, if you need an anchor. That's my main nit. It's nowhere near as gainy as the old Ultras with Lace Sensors. The S1 is handy for splitting the bridge. Much easier than the old toggle. Super comfy modern neck.

  • Best strat ever. Period.

Made a deposit on this at the Manchester ct store. Jose the manager there is the best. Blue denim. Ebony finger board. locking tuners. Great pickups. Stainless steel frets! Plays like a dream. Limited edition too. What more could you ask for?

When the order came in, could not believe how rough the neck feel with all the frets sticking out. Almost return it in disgust for the amount of money spent. Took Joe, repair tech at Lynnwood Guitar Center 3 hours to file them down to where a guitar this caliber should feel. Other than that all other reviews are very accurate. Bought this because it's exclusive and probably holds the value better.

All guitars vary depending on the density of the wood. Manufacturers usually only spec size and type of wood. Guitars are generally between 6 and 12 lbs. They can be more. The only way to know the weight of an individual instrument is to weigh it. This will be approximately 7.5 – 9.0 lbs

After less than two months of ownership, I started to notice some cracks in the finish near the neck pocket area. I went into my local Guitar Center and the model they had on display had the same issue. Is this common with this particular model? Are other owners of this guitar noticing the same problem?

We haven't heard any issues such as this outside of something happening during transit.
